What I have seen of GM...
GM can close dealerships (and will). GM can make dealers sell at MSRP- witness Saturn. The Camaro marketing people could have told us what to expect. GM could have made dealers accept the pre-order cars at MSRP.

I too got screwed by my dealer Hamilton lagreca in Hutchinson KS. I think that sents gm is going to be owned by the government like 50%, I think that sents we are tax payers that are getting screwed by dealers out of our cars and some of us out of our money that Obama needs to pass a law protecting all of us tax payers that makes it against the law to sell a car to some one else once a order has been placed, money change had and pre order paper work has been signed. I think the charges should be $100,000.00 fine for each accurence. The president and all the big wigs along with all the car manufatures want us to buy new cars and want our tax money to keep afloat. I think its obout time that they listen to us americans for once.

I think the only thing to do for those of us who didn't pre- order is to wait the hysteria out. When the Challenger first came out, the Dodge stealerships around here were marking the SRT8 up $19,000. I went by one (Freedom Dodge in Lexington) last week. They had 7 Challengers on the lot. Some of them, the SRT8s, still had mark- up stickers on them, but the newer R/T models didn't. The salesman I talked to admitted that they would be willing to deal on any of the cars they had. Give it 6 months and they'll be selling the Camaros for less than MSRP.

I will say this: my experiences with GM dealers have been so irritating that after I buy my Camaro, which is to be a big boy toy that I plan to keep forever and put maybe 2000 miles a year on it, I won't buy another domestic car or truck. The quality of my wife's Honda and the service that we get from the dealer have earned Honda our business for her daily drivers for life. I'll keep my S-10 for another dozen years or so and then I'll probably replace it with a Ridgeline.

All this posturing about GM's hands being tied by state franchising laws....

Why would they be any different than say, Chic-fil-a? If you have a Chic-fil-a franchise, you operate the way chic-fil-a says to operate or you lose your franchise. If they can tell their franchise owners that they have to give drink refills, that they have to close on Sunday, that they have to honor coupons, then you would think GM could mandate that no vehicle EVER be sold for more than MSRP...that seems simple enough, crap, even Bose and Apple have controls on their pricing as part of their "authorized retailer" agreements... if GM has no control, it is because they GAVE IT UP! They nee to get it back, or die trying, and the latter may be happening soon....

This is insane. I pre-ordered a Victory Red 2SS/RS Camaro on the first day customers were able to back in October. I went to my local dealer and was #1 on their order list. They agreed to sell the car to me at the window sticker price. I had talked with the salesman before and thought he was honest. For the past few weeks he has been calling me with order updates.

I called him this week and he tells me that my order was canceled and that they were only going to get one SS Camaro between now and October. They were going to sell it at 10k above sticker. He had told me back in October that they had 6 allocations. I knew something was fishy, so I called the GM customer service line yesterday and the rep. tells me that the car has been produced and it will arrive at the dealership in a couple of days. I called him back today and he tells me that the car has been delivered to the dealership.

So I go to the dealership today and see a salesman that doesn't know me. I asked him if the dealership had a 2SS Camaro. He says, "Yeah, but it's already gone. The manager's son has it." So, I go inside and talk to the salesman that I was working with. He wouldn't admit that they had the car I ordered on the lot. He just repeated, "I haven't seen the invoice."

They ended up hijacking my order so an employee's family member could be the first on the block to get a Camaro. They lied to me and thought I wouldn't figure out what happened. What a terrible experience. I hope the dealership folds.

I called GM and they said they couldn't do anything.

If anyone knows where I can get a Victory Red 2SS/RS Camaro in KY or the surrounding area at sticker please let me know.
Show them your signed purchase agreement wiht the details you just spoke about. and tell them you will go to a lawyer with it! You do have a documant right, at least a piece of paper with price, car and options, and price wiht expected estimated delivery....right ....show the manager that ! What ! you do not have it?? Well you dont have anything then. So the moral of the story is......

If this guy had a Workbench order with his name on it and a salesman that took the order and kept him up to date with the progress, I think GM should be all over this. A sold order that was given to someone other that the one that ordered it? They should not be allowed to sell another Camaro until this is resolved in the favor of the original buyer.

Post up scans of the original Workbench order and then post the name and number of the dealer. I'm sure everyone here would love to give them a call and let them know how much we disapprove of this.

Dude, dont let this go. I think you can get you car back and at MSRP if you are determined enough.

....franchise laws, individual dealer owners .... it is still a GM store that carries the GM trademark.
According to GM's forum representatives, there's nothing they can do and people who think they should do something are ignorant and foolish. GM is at the mercy of some kind of franchise laws that vary from state to state that only seems to apply to car companies and not to companies who make computers or bicycles or appliances.

I don't know what to believe.

He's the President, not the King os U.S.A. He can't just make up laws and tell everyone to start following them.
