Leather seat cracking (pic)
This is the outer edge of my drivers seat. Is this happening to anyone else?

Do you wear a cell phone on your belt that might be rubbing when entering or exiting the car? Just a thought.

Do you ever condition your seats?

Yes, I bought these for the SS and the bottles are both half empty. I should mention that I have over 120,000 miles on my SS.

Wow. I think you win the award for the most amount of miles on a SS. 120,000 is a lot for 3 years.

I guess I was hoping for a little longer on the seats.
Yup, I'll likely be over 160,000 miles this time next year

Looks like the leather seats will be expendable.
I am actually at 123K ... looks like I wont be catching you at this rate Quote:
Maybe I need to start a wear items thread. I can already tell which things are going to wear out (mostly knobs, seats, seat warmer, ..... tires)

I had that problem in 2011 and I was lucky thet the car was still under warrenty. Dealer changed the back of the seat cover.
I call this the Corvette Seat Wear. That happens when entering-exiting the car. You need to put your left hand on the still and push yourself upward a little. No matter what pants (jeans or other) you ware, it will happen. I beleive that the back cover is not too expensive to replace.

I won't be able to change my entering and exiting habbits. I dont mind changing it every 3-4 years due to CSW (corvette seat wear)... this car is worth it. I am sure the vette guys say the same thing. I feel better knowing that it's actually me tearing it up... and not age or weathering.

That leather seat cover is like 500$ here in Canada.
Its not hard to change but if you decide to do it, you'll need approx. 20 small hog rings, hog ring pliers (or you can use tie straps/wraps they work perfectly fine) and maybe two headrest guide if you break them when taking them out. In total just for the back cover is almost a 550-600$ job in Canada just for parts, and the bottom cover is just as expensive. And im not entirely sure on how big of a person you are but with 100000+mi on your car the seat foams are probably flattened a little and will cause the new leather to look loose and not stretched properly so you might have to invest in the seat foams to get the leather to stretch and look professional. Unless you decide to go the aftermarket route, with Katzkin or whatever and you can probably get a whole interior for much cheaper then OEM, but you'll most likely still need hog rings and all that other fun stuff.

Sorry to drag up an old thread, but does anyone know the GM part# for the back portion of the drivers leather seat cover in black? Also where is the best (cheapest) place to buy one?
