general cost of getting my wheels powdercoated?

I was wondering, I think I have decided to powdercoat my wheels black. before I start shopping around, how much should I consider a fair price to powdercoat them? Also, how long does it take - like is this something where I only loose my car for a day??

I paid $100 a rim and then $25 a rim to clearcoat them for extra protection, Powdercoating does last longer and is alot stronger then if you painted them. It can take up to 5 days to get your rims back

I got quotes from 5 different locations. Ranging from 75 a wheel to 125. Talked to people that had there wheels done at the location that charged 75, they didnt do an awesome job. Drips and such. Talked to the owner of the company that charged 125 and he told me they guarentee there work and will fix any chips that occur, if they occur. So basically just payed a little more to make sure I got the quality I wanted.

I payed $50 a wheel! Plus paying to have the dismounted and mounted again! Also had to go to the dealer and buy new valve stems! $9 apiece!

I paid $50 a WHEEL (they're wheels not rims) about 7 years ago so my guess is 75-100 is reasonable in these tough economic times. Otherwise your getting hosed. As for the painted option... most wheels come from the factory painted and the hold up just fine. My midnight silver RS wheels look great 18,000 miles later. A chip here and there but whatever. Unless you put your face next to the wheel, you never see it. And let's be honest how often does that happen?

Got mine removed from tires, balances taken off, powder coated black chrome, rebalanced and put back on within a day and a half for $475.

Call around, but check references. Also do they include sand-blasting?

I found a well reviewed place that charges about $78 per wheel, but that includes the sand blasting beforehand. Sand blasting will remove all the slight imperfections and previous paint.
