Good Idea?

Probably the wrong area, but who cares. I was looking at some cheap cars and saw a 1999 Camaro Z28 for a bit under $7,000. I wanted to get a Camaro because my dad bought his first 1969 Camaro convertible when he was 14. I wanted to get your guys' opinion on getting a 1999 Z28 for a first car. I'll most likely be 16 or 17 when I get (that's if I do) I know it's probably not the best choice, but it's a and it's got a V8 so... good or bad idea?

P.S. - are there any price calculators for cars? Insurance, running cost, ect.

I would say it's all about the milage on the car. Also whether you can work on it yourself or not. I would be willing to bet that the mileage on the car you are looking at is close to 100k. Things are gonna break so if you can do the work yourself, all the better.

As far as it being your first car, who wouldnt want a Z28 for a first car. I grew up with Camaros and my kids will also if I have anything to do with it.

I just don't want to get a Z/28 and find out that i'm getting into something way bigger than I thought. For example, I don't want to get the car and find out that I can't pay off the insurance and everything needed to actually drive the car.

Well, You've been around the site for a while so I'm sure you've seen the threads with first car opinions. Just be VERY careful.
