I just installed a new set of wheels and tires. I reset the TPMS using the handheld tool, pretty easy process. I then took the car for a drive of about 20 miles with one stop at the 15 miles point. When I started the car back up I got a TPMS error on my screen. When I got home I reset everything using the same process and the screen is displaying the tire pressures. My question is, is it normal to have to run through the reset procedure more than once to get it to take? The sensors in the wheels are new as this is a second set of wheels and tires but the part number was for a 2013 Camaro with 20" wheels so that shouldn't be an issue. What are your thoughts?

You will need to take it to a shop that has a tool to relearn the new sensor to the vehicle.

My tpms experience with 2014 ls after scosche install

I just did the tpms relearn method on my 2014 LS1 camaro. It did not beep the horn after each tire pressure decrease, but it did beep at the end of the process. I did this on my wheels that were already on the car. The tpms numbers on the dic had blanked out due to the scosche install procedure. I took the car on a long road trip afterwards and the tpms and scosche install still works great. I'm buying a set of 2014 ss 20" with factory tires and tpms sensors. I'll try to relearn this set and post with results.

Tpms relearn tool

So I installed factory set of SS wheels/tires that were still assembled with gm tpms valves. I tried inflating tires then deflating tires. I even disconnected battery then tried it all again. I then ordered relearn tool from Amazon for $68 and I just relearned the SS set in a few minutes. FABULOUS. My dealer wanted $99 to relearn them.

I just had winter tires put on my 2013 SS at the shop on Friday and I noticed that now I get the TPMS error. Should I just bring it back there and have them do it or do I have to buy this tool that people speak of?

I purchased the Kent-Moore EL-50448.
I've used it on my wife's 2014 Chevy car as well. It works great. I just store it in my tool box in the box it came in and leave the 9 volt battery out, so it won't corrode the tool over time.

That's the one I got. Works perfect. I also leave the battery out until I need it.

I have the orange TPM tool shown above. You need it to reset the sensors for the 2015's as well.

Depends on what year you have. On My 2011 I have 2 sets of wheels and go through the relearn process every time I switch them. No issues at all and I only have to do it one time. No tool needed.
