Underdrive pulley and Track days

Does anyone run an underdrive pulley on track? My concern is with decrease flow through cooling system. Is that a valid concern (I live in Texas)? I stay off track while temps are over 100. I did one event last year at 95 and car did fine (I had to manage temps little bit). My location is +95 from late May to late September. I like idea of bringing a few more HP to wheels but not by sacrificing cooling.

I don't have one at the moment, but it is on my list to get. I was going to get it on the 1LE when I was going to build it, and I am getting it on the Z/28. I never really thought or heard negative about the decrease in flow. I understand that it would, I just don't know if it would be affected that much. I would say that having supporting mods would help make it more efficient though. Like an oil cooler, 15w40 oil, all aluminum radiator, straight distilled water, etc. And to go to the extreme, go electric on the water pump. I'm not sure what your current setup is, but I have run both of mine in 90-100 weather without too much concern. It can get warm, but nothing that can't be cooled with a cool down lap.

My motor is Thompson Motorsports 427 (20w50 VR1 oil). I have been running the same oil cooler and radiator for several years now. It is largest oil cooler I could find at the time...

Oil Cooler (Using 200deg Thermostat):

Radiator (Using 160deg Thermostat):

I am trying to wrap my head around coolant with underdrive pulley. The water pump would have to flow less. Coolant would spend more time in engine getting hotter, coolant would also spend more time in radiator getting cooler. Net zero?

I have a Powerbond and notice no cooling issues. I’ve actually deleted my factory oil heat exchanger but also swapped in a Z28 thermostat. I’ll be doing my first track day with those two changes next week, so we’ll see how it goes. I’m more concerned with oil temps than coolant based on my track experience, though.
