The Trinity out of the 13/14 500s is plenty capable/proven performer. Adding another 50-100 hp shouldn't be a problem at all, maybe slight modifications to allow it to rev a bit higher.
Why spend a whole bunch of dollars on a new engine platform when you already have a capable design. Improve on the GT350R's suspension to handle the additional hp/tq of the 500 and add in a quality auto/dct and the car is going to breath fire.

Higher trap speed, faster 0-60, and yet still failed to crack into the 11's....with the same kind of GT A10..

The truth is, most of their demographic for Mustangs (enthusiasts) are drag racers anyways....so it's not a knock on them to do so. In fact, I'd be shocked if they even tried to build a ZL1 killer..

I'm sure you're smart enough to know automotive magazines use a different testing method than a drag strip run. The same mag listed the Camaro at 12.3. Testing methods being equal the mustang is faster and the Camaro is a known 11 second car at the drag strip.

So, to me, I believe Ford's target here is to become more of an all around car like the ZL1. Hence, why the GT350 is the starting point. I also think, it is taking Ford so long to get this car to market because the focus had to change from going after the top 1/4 mile times, to going after the ZL1 track times. Both the Demon and the ZL1 set the bar very high for their respective areas of expertise. Therefore, my opinion (take that for what it's worth - namely nothing) is that the GT500 will go after the ZL1 and best it in some or many categories, but perhaps not all. I mean, why release the car if it can't beat the competition. Keep working on it until it does. And they have been working on it for a while. |

Yeah, it didn't crack 11s but I think it was still a great test, especially considering C&D got a 12.3 @ 116 with the 2016 SS A8 they tested. A 4 mph trap advantage for the Mustang is huge... |

How about mods? Are you going to upgrade anything, or personalize it? Mine's a daily driver that I take on the weekends for HPDE stuff. I want to get out the 1/4 mile track just to say I did it and give it a try, but the HPDE is more interesting to me (but also more expensive). The couple that I have done were an amazing experience! |

120 in the 1/4 for a non-FI car with a MSRP below 50K is seriously hauling the mail.

And it’s only the a10. Looks like the mustang manual is slower than the ss manual. Looks like the coyote can’t compete with the lt1 motor to motor. Needs the gearing and shifting of a drag mode a10 to be on par Regardless the test wasn’t same day anyway. |
