FI 5th gen vs cammed z06

Got a run setup on Tuesday to run a CAMMED ONLY/ tuned z06. He has nothing else. He claims it is a small cam, but I don't believe him.

My mods are in my sig. 600+rwhp.

He wants to go from a roll. Probably second (traction for me non existent until maybe middle of 3rd).

--will be done at an airstrip we have here -- like dragtimes.

You guys think it'll be a good race? Or am I going to get murdered? I will have videos!

Really depends on the camshaft he has. Some cam only C6Z06s are well over the 500 rwhp mark, plus his weight advantage should make it pretty close.

I don't know but I'm sure it would be fun.

You're going to smoke his **s. Once the SC kicks in he's toast. Just stay in your RPM power range.

He'll be slipping around too but I have SERIOUS traction problems. Like... holy shit moments. Hopefully he'll want to go from 2nd top or even 3rd. At about 3k rpm the car loses all senses of traction in 3rd... im guessing because of the cam or something.

But man it's going to be fun. Everyone around here saying I'm going to get eaten alive.

You know you don't have to go pedal to the floor right away right? It's not like at 1/2 throttle your car becomes a rocket ship. Just learn to control it and you'll be ok.

well from what the OP said. it cant be a big cam, also maybe JUST a cam.not headers, we all now you NEED headers. if that was the case the Z06 owner is full of it.

Maybe I'm just reading your post wrong but do you know for a fact he has nothing but the cam and a tune? Seeing 'cam only' makes me wonder if those are your words or his.

And he also said he didnt necessarily believe him that it was a small cam, a Katech torquer cam isnt "big" but will get you past the 500 rwhp mark too. Anyway the info is out there, and Im not here to champion the Z06 or belabor the point. In the words of Levar Burton from Reading Rainbow, you don't have to take my word for it.

To the OP: Good luck, should be fairly close, listen to Deki's advice, and dont expect your dyno sheet to win your race for you.

I launch at 1/4 throttle, shift into 2nd at 4k (normal shift is 7k), 1/2 throttle second and shift into 3rd at about 5k then I go WOT in 3rd and it's still uncontrolable.

Trust me, I have been practicing this whole week on an empty road launching my car. At 1/4 throttle first the car breaks free. At 1/2 2nd, it also breaks free. And in 3rd and WOT it's slipping around but at about 4-5k rpm it gets solid traction. At that point bye bye most cars.

Its gonna be close assuming he has 500rwhp and you have 620rwhp. This puts him at about 6.4 lbs/hp and you 6.3 lbs/hp. sounds like whoever has the better tires/traction. above 130 hi aerodynamics will overtake you though. Should be fun....get some new tires!
