And the transmission ratios are closer. 3rd and 4th are were it really shows it's strength. 60-140-60 MPH.

285/35X20 tires on all four corners. Those wide tires on the front aren't going to help on a drag strip, but they sure will knock your brain out your ear in a turn and will stop faster than you can say WTF.

I thought I read once it had a differential cooler (trans fluid runs though a core in the cover), but that may have been the Z/28.

Agreed! High octane fuel and reset with fuse pull. Different animal then!

I've driven an RT shaker challenger. Also a GT500 Mustang.
The mustang made me feel like I was playing mario kart, Camaro more track worthy and the shaker seemed more muscular of the 3.
The Challenger has more of an "old school" feel. Seems to sit higher, heavier etc. It's a straight line car. In the end, in my case, it seemed more psychological, because of the design.

Yeah, my brother is more of the old school drag strip guy. MOPAR. Can't beat the traction those things have. '72 440 GTX, punched out, 3500 stall, 4.10 screw. Knock your socks off shit.

We have had some awesome moments over the last 30 years.
One thing he will never be able to compete with is the handling of the Camaro, but he really doesn't give a shit, and I have to admire him for that. He has his priorities.

If you want to go fast in a straight line then the 1LE is not the right car. Throw in 1 good corner and the 1LE will be around it an down the road before the challenger has figured out which ditch it wants to go into. The 1LE is an impressive car on a course or curvy back road. Like others have said make sure you have good gas and the car is set up for it as well

Sent from my campfire using smoke signals.

What fuse are we talking about here? I've never heard of this in the time I've been on this forum.

I did the fuse pull on mine. Worked like a charm.

fuse pull helps a little but isnt life changing. id say the biggest thing youre feeling is the SS's lazy throttle response. In my v6 id give the gas a couple taps and it would rev right up with no hesitation. Now my SS..... its like you hit the gas and the car asks (are you sure...? well alright then) and then finally revs up lol. gives it much more of a freight train type of gradual acceleration rather than the neck snapping out of the hole pull feel of most other "fast" cars.

Yeah... a PTB does help in that regards too...

I test drove 4 different SS's a 2010, 2012, 2014 and a 2015. The 2014 was an auto and by far the faster of the 4. It had just been traded in, had exhaust and a I am sure was running super by the stuff the owner had done. Dealer had not had it long enough to put gas in it. They had it a few hours had not even been taken around back to be cleaned. The other 3 sucked. I almost bought the 2015 right after driving the 2014. We worked out a price but then I drove it. I passed on the New 2015 and bought a 1996 Corvette. That Vette was a hell of a lot faster then the 2015 Camaro I test drove and it shouldn't have been.

I wonder if all the cars had the wrong fuel and were limping.

I hated all of them but the 2014. I thought they were a joke. The 2010 I left the dealer pissed. I wonder if it took me 6 years to buy a Camaro because of bad fuel. Stupid dealers. My Z has Super... It only had 67 miles but I am thinking I might want to check into remove the fuse on it. Not sure if its the same.

Maybe you're just bad at driving. I drive my 1le pretty spiritedly most of the time and have managed to only hit the rev limiter maybe twice in the two years I've had it.

car shopping one day I drove a ZL1 and was impressed but the price was crazy. Found a freshly traded 11 2ss/rs L99 with headers a tune and a cam and it was hands down noticeably faster than the ZL1. It was also 25k cheaper. Talked to the original owner then bought it. It's so easy and relatively inexpensive to turn an everyday SS into a stock ZL1 killer
