700r4 vs 4l80
Whats the better trans to build and Why?

I haven't seen anyone racing with the 700r but tons with the 4L80. The 4L80 is basically a computer controlled (unless you go manual valvebody) overdrive TH400 if you weren't aware. A "real" TH400 is stronger though.
I did a quick web search of 700r vs 4L80 and it was universal the 4L80 was stronger and the 700r wasn't worth it if you are making any sort of power. |

the 1-2 gearing difference on a 700 is something to consider as well (a negative in my opinion)
