headers ?

I was at a high performance shop and was told that with the ZL1 being supercharged there is no real horse power advantage to putting on headers but with most horse power upgrade packages i see for the ZL1 headers are included . Anyone have some insight on this ?

they are worth 10-15 hp tops with no cats. They are definitely not worth 30-40 hp as many vendors claim. I have dyno sheets to prove it.

What place told you this? If your near Albany there aren't that many options, I know the guys from twisted, so I don't think it was them.

But any ways, you have been debating on this modding thing for awhile. Call new era performance, they had my 2011 SC SS making 640 rwhp (I needed LT headers to make this HP) with out a hick up, and passed NYS inspection for 2 years until I sold it. Great shop, hit up Mike and he will square you away.

I agree with this, but as the power starts to climb 500, 550, 600 they become even more restrictive.

If price was no factor, ARH or Kooks. Both 2" applications?????

well yes and no. you get some boost loss with them on as well. so headers on a Zl1 are not as rewarding as an SS.

my advice is just pick up the stainless power $629 headers that way the 15hp you gain or so is more in line with the money.

people who buy kooks and arh are just out quite a bit of money for the hp gain.

now if you doing an all out build 700whp+ I think the kooks, arh, stainless power 2" tube headers might be worth the extra coin. on a budget build the extra money is better spent else where as teh fit and finihs on the stainless power is perfect.

car sounds way better with headers for sure and catbacks are more than headers.

See thats the thing. I plan on doing a 700+ build later on down the road. Thats why ARH, Kooks and stainless works are the top choices for me at 2"

Just in case some people read this post and are confused.

Boost loss is just the proof that the headers flow better than the oem manifolds.

Less restriction = greater air flow = less boost pressure = more power (engine breathes easier)

many people get caught up on the "how much boost?" fad and forget that boost is just a measure of restriction.

CFM flowing in and out of the engine is far more important than having the highest boost numbers. (But nobody has a CFM gauge in their car)

Quick question to all, if I wanted to do headers and swap my current OEM exhaust for the Corsa 3.0 system, would I need the connection pipe to be 3" the whole way through? I know how some connect to your stock 2.5 system but I dont plan on keeping it. Help ASAP please

I think the 3" corsa system connects to the 2.5 factory cats. you can get headers with 3" connection pipes though and then just cut of the 2.5 reducer and clamp or weld in slip connector.

This woud be real easy to do. the stainless power headers I bought can be get in 2.5 and 3" connection pipes. I think arh and kooks can be purchased either way as well.
