Wierd lock out of gears
Wierd thing happened after driving to track .
I got monster lt s triple clutch , billet bearing support tick speed bleeder . Mgw shifter After driving an hour to our drag strip , I was parking after long wait idleing . When I got to the parking lot , I couldn’t shift into any gear , seemed like the clutch wouldn’t engage or disengage , shut it off let it cool and the clutch worked perfectly again .. Clutch works perfectly , and after cool down and couple passes haven’t ran into it again .. any ideas what that might be ? Was thinking since I got the Seperate clutch resi , that the fluid got to hot or something but doubt it - I did bleed it some more the day before .. When it was locking me out sometimes it let me go into third then I could get it into first .. just wierd Thanks for any input |

I have noticed where heat changes the pedal engagement on my car. I have new clutch, new slave, new lines, new master and all lines are double insulated. On a warm day at the strip I can get a run in about every hour and half. Any sooner and my car will not shift to 2nd gear if i try to be quick with it.
I am thinking the slave is heat soaking and needs time to cool off which, given its location takes some time. |

I am currently running amsoil and have used gm factory fluid and the fluid that came with it after the trans rebuild from tremec.
1st to 2nd has always been an issue but has been worse with aftermarket clutches. I have reduced the problems with doing things to insulate the line and using high temp brake fluid but still can see how temperature change changes the clutch engagement point on the pedal. It has always been a 1st to 2nd issue on my car, even when stock. |

might be those fruit plastic shifting fork pads giving you problems. mine started doing that and i took it out for replacement bronze pads then mission creep set in and then i went ape sh** with it. could be the plastic shifter cup also. i just went whole hog now we'll see. i was going to run either the new tremec fluid or go back to gm syncromesh . i drained it out . the syncromesh after 20k miles and it looked brand new. i freaked. been a long wait for my build but its gonna be worth it.

wasn't trying to jack your thread but it sounds like we have same issues. when tremec rebuilt your trans did they upgrade your shift fork bushings? what did they do? any upgrades? or back to stock specs?

They did several things to upgrade it including fork pads, turret bushings, shift rail bushings and some metal work for strength. The shifting is fine when everything is normally warmed up but changes after a run and not cooled yet. It acts like a clutch release issue.

understood, the 4th gens didn't have these issues when i put a tick adjustable master cyl.this automatic clutch adjust is for the birds.

I used the tick adjustable for a year. It ended up having to be adjusted every couple weeks so i went back to factory instead. It was one of their 1st ones so I'm not sure if they are more durable now.
I do agree the no external adjustment on factory style sucks. |

Sorry for the late reply , good info but wanted to report that had alittle air in my clutch , bled it out with bled it out with a mity vac and seemed to solve the problem .. thank god for the speed bleeder line

Oh c'mon, nothing like an armpit full of brake fluid when trying to bleed without the extension. I put a divorced reservoir in the vert and really regretted not putting a speed bleeder line in while the engine was out when it came time to bleed it. I ended up rigging up a vac pump on the new reservoir to get the pedal back where it belongs.
