Question.

What is the difference between heating up street tires v. slicks?

I heard that unlike slick/drag tires, you shouldn't heat up street tires with burnouts and it actually makes your times worse, not better. Or am I totally wrong on this?

You definitely don't want to do burnout in the water. Residual moisture in the grooves could run down to the pavement while staging.

Any kind of heat in the tires would make them stickier, I think.

Hey, there are no such things as bad auto or manual trans cars.......... just SH*T drivers that don't know how to use them properly as seen in this video! They should both be banned from ever racing again! What a disapointment!

The SS posted a 13.8X to the Chally's 13.9X... The MPH was a lot different, but that 2.3X 60' was not too good. Hey - you gotta' start somewhere

Slicks get very very sticky much like chewing gum although it doesn't help much unless the track is prepped correctly. I forget the name of it but they basicly spray a glue on the track, it's so sticky it'll take your shoes right off your feet if your not careful!

Street tires may become a bit softer but no where near as effective as slicks, all you are really doing is wearing them down and making a cool smoke show! If you want to improve your times with tires get a set of slicks mounted to some extra wheels and put them on at the track.

Soon to be 2010-2011 Camaro SS/RS This is if the truck is worth trading in or I get it paid off!

Tire spin and not knowing how to properly launch a manual I'm sure were factors. If you want to drag race a car then an Auto is where it's at.
