Agreed! I can't believe they just didn't set you up in a loaner right up front. Its obvious you have a warranty issue. I'd be really disappointed with that response from my dealer. Call the service manager. Good luck, be nice the first time and give 'em hell after that if the response doesn't change.

Latest. Called and complained to service manager. Got a loaner.
As for the car. They replaced the camshaft position solenoid. The problem was not fixed. They asked if I had tuned or had a programmer on it because the tech was getting some "weird" readings from the ECM and he thinks they need to replace it. Apparently GM gets involved when they request a new ECM. Luckily other than window tint and a bit of vinyl the car is bone stock. Will update as I learn more. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Conclusion.
They changed the ECM and that cleared the CEL and they tried to give me the car back. I picked it up and hadn't even left the parking lot before it started surging and the CEL returned. Guess they didn't test drive? Anyway left it there again. The service manager ending up finding the real problem the next day. There is a wiring harness near the bottom of the motor in the front just left of center. It was rubbing on a belt and had lost some insulation allowing 2 wires to touch. They repaired it. The car is now driving perfectly. Acceleration is smooth and hard throughout the RPM range. I tested it thoroughly. This made me realize that yesterday is probably the first time I had driven the car hard in perfect condition. That little high RPM surge has always existed for me. And thinking back, I remember a few little weird mid RPM surges every now and again. Glad it's fixed. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Excellent news. While it was a bit of a torturous journey for you - I'm glad in the end it was a simple, straight forward fix. It seems to me (I may be imagining it) that I remember reading another post that was similar. The car was running weird and they found some wires rubbed through by the belt.
Now I have to go look. Enjoy the new found power that you can use with confidence.
