All the Guys here in Utah who run their cars out at Miller Motorsports Park who have PFADT drop springs have all blown axles. All of them have upgraded to DSS axles but I won't know if that fixed the issue until next spring when they're running them hard again.

lowering these cars and driving hard doesnt go well, parts fail and the car induces vibrations. known design issue with the current set up. I also want to see the ZL1 set up myself to see how the angles of the axles have changed with the new diff assembly and geometry

The MRC system does not like to be lowered. If you venture over to the CTS-V forums you'll find the lowering coils are a rather modest drop.

The biggest issue with lowering and 5th Gen axels is heat. The grease in the OEM shafts has a modest temperature at which it liquefies. When the heat builds up from laps and the grease liquefies the CV joints are not well lubricated. That is what causes the CV joint failure on a road course.

This can be addressed with a number of different lubes that have much higher temps before the lube liquefies. Companies like the DSS use this type of lube. You can take an OEM shaft off and upgrade the lube.

At this time, we have no idea what type of lube is in the ZL1 CV joints.

C'mon Pete - I don't want to buy the Eibach coils....I would rather buy Pedders!! A little drop to get rid of some fender gap and the MRC is still intact - give me something to work with. I am going through Pedders withdrawals!!

Oh yeah...and I would like the rear diff out of the ZL1 also!! As my only option is an $1800 add on rear diff cooler

I'm thinking about going this route over a 9", can
t wait to hear what the total cost for everything would be, I'm sure it will be a lot less than the 9" setup and handle a lot of power as well.

might not be that much of a difference since you'll probably need to buy axles, drive shaft, hubs etc...not to mention your choice of gears and even more strength.

Ok, so now the question is, will the ZL-1 diff be a direct bolt in for say a 2010 like I have. Also and maybe Frank can answer this one, will the 1400 HP axles and 1pc driveshaft from the DSS for the 2010 diff work with the ZL-1 diff? And thank you for posting up that info 2SSRS.
