Using Mobile 1 oil filters

I went to Advance Auto and they either don't carry AC Delco stuff or it was in the back and I didn't feel like asking but either way I wound up getting Mobile 1 filter and getting 5w-30 Mobile 1 from WalMart which was more than $10 cheaper. Question is, is the Mobile 1 filter worth the $$? I also had to get the extended mileage stuff because they didn't have any 5 qt jugs of the silver one. Opinions? My car has about 90k miles on it right now.

Both good products but if you don't do extended oil changes the filter is overkill.

There is a reason it is cheaper at Walmart, unfortunately. Treat your car right.

I used to like Mobil 1 and they even used my car in a print ad once. Ended up getting involved with a vehicle used in a commercial where they claimed they circumnavigated the Earth on one oil change- except it's not true. They lied about it, and when I tore the engine down afterwards, it was sludged up so bad I had to drop the pan and scrub the engine down with brushes and diesel fuel.
The sludge made me second guess the quality, the dishonesty kept me away.

I dont use Mobil 1 oil anymore but i still use the filter. I almost used a K&N filter and it looked extremely cheap compared to the expensive M1 filter. Now the M1 filter is 15$ instead of 20$ (for V6 cartridge filters), most places.

Thanks guys. I usually use Quaker State but switched to Mobil 1 this time around. I always wait until my oil monitor is at least 20% or sometime less before changing so I assume this extended life will help a little but and I see everyone on here raving about Mobile 1 so figured I'd try it. Was going to go Royal Purple or whatever it is called since I've seen that on here too but it was almost $20 more.

As long as it is not a basic fram, I would not worry about it.

Why is that? I believe it's cheaper due to the sheer spending money Walmart has compared to smaller auto stores.

Also from what I've read Mobil 1 extended performance is the real synthetic now. I always just look to see what's cheaper Pennzoil platinum, Valvoline synpower, Mobil 1, and I strictly like Wix filters. Been doing this routine forever and never had any issues.

I like Mobil 1 filters but stopped using them when I saw the metal on the threaded area of the filter on like 7 of their filters. I got scared of that metal ending up in my oil circulation and decided to switch to K&N filters that comes with a plastic wrap to protect the filter from debris getting in while boxed. As far as oil, Mobil 1 will never see the internals of my engine again. I went from Mobil 1, to Amsoil and now I use Motul 0w-40.

Naw. I used to be in senior mgmt for a very large manufacturer. We had production lines specifically for materials destined for Walmart. To meet their price needs, so they could "sell it cheaper to poor folks thinking they're getting a deal," we would use parts with higher fallout rates, we would not spend additional time/cost on testing, QA, and burn in (this was electronics), and everything about Walmart-destined product was "cheaped on." THAT is how Wally helps the poor out. When you see "The People of Walmart," it's easy to figure out they won't catch that clue.

Just Google, "are products sold at walmart lower quality."

Moral of story: Don't put that crap in your car.
