Didn't he have some other mods that put him past the safe zone???

Here she is at Chevy21 in PA yesterday morning right before I left in my ZL1. It was bittersweet. If I had the money and a 2 car garage I would have kept it as well. 5,200 miles. Signed by Mr.Shelby in '07.

What a great day. The ZL1 rides so much better then the Shelby. Got $31,800 on a trade in and paid $39,000 for the ZL1. I think it was an awesome deal. Nice dealership. Fast, friendly transaction.
The ride home was awesome. What a car! So much more refined then what I drove in with. The Shelby was slightly modified and put 560 at the wheels and had a full Eibach and Roush road race suspension. Nice car but the ZL1 is in a different class. I can't wait to start with some modifications. Thinking about a pulley, air box, headers and a good tune to start. Any suggestions?
They gave you a heck of a trade-in on the 07 Shelby on your almost new (mileage) ZL1. Someone that the dealer knows must have really wanted that Shelby. As others have mentioned, drive it for a while and figure out which mods you want first. All the information is on this forum. Congrats and welcome!

I agree. I'm not a stripe guy, but it breaks up all that white nicely and it is a dealer installed stripe so.....for now lol.....I'll leave it.

What a second: a Shelby guy who isn't a stripe guy? Lol.

Sorry, had to bust your chops and give you a proper Camaro 5 welcome!

The Shelby is a very nice looking car as well, and in mint condition and only 5,200 miles, you never drove it, it had to be a hard decision...Do you mind sharing why you made the switch, if it's personal, I certainly understand not posting in this tread...

No not personal at all. The Shelby is a nice car. I added a tune, upper pulley and an air box and it was really quick. I then added about $3500 in suspension to make it handle. While it got better then the cement truck handling it had before, it now became a home jarring ride. At 52 that didn't work for me haha. So I started not enjoying the car as much on the weekends as I used to. My good friend and neighbor Jim who is 67 wanted a toy car as well. We went to drive the new mustang then the new SS Camaro. After riding in the 2SS with magnetic suspension and the dual mode exhaust I was hooked. Since I still wanted a supercharger the only obvious choice was a ZL1. I couldn't afford a new one so I searched for a super low mileage one owner pre-owned car. The 1,200 mile 6 speed I found 2 hours from home fit the bill nicely!! Jim and I drove out Saturday at 6am, got there by 7:50, had breakfast, then switched cars. The deal was made over the phone so I was literally out of there in under an our. The ride home on my new to me ZL1 was nothing short of amazing. It was easy to compare the level of refinement and ergonomics between the 2 cars. The Shelby was much more raw. The ZL1 is a refined fast is best as I can describe it. As sorry as I was to part with the Shelby, I knew I made the right choice.

Find a trustworthy tuner (some have mentioned Ted Janetty, I'm sure there are others in your region) and trust them. You can use this forum to ask questions to give yourself a warm fuzzy that your tuner is doing the right thing, and that's probably the best way to go. I agree with TooMuchHP, if you go 10% or larger pulley, you need bigger injectors and then you'll need a BAP. And why put a 5% on now when you know down the road you'll want a 18 or larger? Good luck fellow ZL1'er, enjoy that bad ass car, it's lots of fun and eats tires, so save your $$ for your next set.
