How loud without cats

I am curious how loud the car is with long tubes and a cam without cats. I am contemplating not running cats because I have heard of them melting and clogging. I was going to run cats just to keep the noise down a little.

That Magnaflow kind of sounds tame? Is it just the video?

It's really hard to tell in that video. I am currently running the stock headers and cats with a set of no weeds cutout and it sounds pretty good. But now I'm upgrading and I am wondering what do do about the cats.

Headers + No cats to stock NPP is pretty loud. At WOT it is ear splitting I've heard, but for a lot of people, that's not a bad thing. Headers + high flow cats tames down the rasp and shouldn't fail on you unless you're a super super high HP build.

That is what I am a little worried about. Plus I know it will be pissing off the whole apartment complex when I leave at 5am in the morning. It is not a really high HP build. Just BTR stage 3 cam, kooks LT, pulleys for both supercharger and crank and a cold air intake.

Hmm, that's likely good for 680-700ish WHP, with a stage 3 cam you might be forced to run no cats. If you're afraid of the noise then I'd order Dynatech Headers and their proprietary "Super Cats" (Optimized for Forced Induction cars, more free flowing than high flows but quieter (Marginally) then cat-less). You can order them from Ted at Jannetty.

And check this video out:

BTR3 with Cat-less Kooks to NPP.

And this is high flows and stainless works headers w/ BTR3 (Colder start so less lope):

I already have the headers and the cats. The shop doing the work recommends not to install the cats. I am leaning towards not installing them. I may have to ream them out since I can't get the connection pipes in time since he will be doing the work next week and I will be out of town. I didn't think the WHP would be as high as that. i figured it would be about 625 to 650RWHP.

That car does sound good though.

I currently have a set of cutouts on the car and I was going to leave them on since i had to modify the exhaust to install them. I guess I may be driving with them closed all of the time depending on noise. I usually drive with them open all the time with the stock setup.

I have a 14 with Kooks headers NPP and no cats. Idle is a bit louder than stock but when you hit it its a huge volume difference. i wouldnt want to be any louder and i like loud cars.

I have the flap fuse pulled. With the Jannetty tune and current pulley it makes a great blast / pop crackle sound when you blip the throttle and someone is walking near the rear of the car. Have seen many jump drop packages etc.

It is quiet at idle, loud when you get on it...

Does anyone have a video of LT headers, no cats, fuse pulled and no cam? Maybe a cold start up clip and an acceleration clip?

It's really loud with long tubes and no cats. I like it though, but not all the time. It draws too much attention sometimes. I bought a Forza 3 way controller that allows me to keep the flaps closed all the time. One of the best purchases for the car I've made. I can drive aggressive in town and not have to worry about alerting every cop in the adjacent 10 square miles. The exhaust sounds great too with it closed and full throttle. Depends on my mood if I want hell raising mode or just beast mode lol.
