cut mine out years ago. Never felt any discomfort or seeing any distortion of the metal in or around the cut area. My car was gutted for a long time. I feel the seat belt bar that mounts to the chassis is more of a rigidity factor then a precisely measured cut. I think the added dimpling of the metal under the seat is to help with weight of passengers or things you may throw in the back front denting warping or rubbing the tank, more so than overall frame rigidity negatives one would feel in racing.

Yeah I'm pretty sure that the metal there does not offer much if any structural support. It is not much stronger than a sardine can. Plus a riveted trap door will offer similar support to what was once there. I think you would also see signs of stress on the trap door if it was not strong enough.
