what material is our convertible top?

My search did not answer my question so here goes... What material is our convertible top made with? I am looking at ordering the 303 convertible top clean & protect kit but want to order the right one.

There is one for FABRIC and one for VINYL. My guess is vinyl but I don't want to just guess...

Vinyl is what the seats are made out of. We have cloth tops, as to the actual makeup of the fabric I'm not exactly sure. I believe the guys who use the 303 (which I plan on trying out myself this spring) use the formula for the cloth tops.

Good Luck

I think the top is close to what they used to call "Hartz material" a cloth top and our Camaro is the same material that I have on my Mercedes roadster convertible...I have tried and seem to like the 303 products...the only thing is when applying it, it reminds me of the old milky stuff called armorall, which had no long term value...

I used 303 for cloth too. Worked well last year, planning to re-appply this spring. If you use it get the large bottle, the smaller size won't cover your top adequately. Oh, and don't forget to cover your windows and everything else!!

We have cloth tops. Therefore you require the kit for "fabric" and not vinyl.

Does the 303 leave streaks down the sides when it rains? I used 303 protectant on my Tonneau cover on my truck and when it rained it left streaks from the 303 application. Looked terrible. Thanks!

I have seen this on the vinyl but not on canvas tops. I've been using this a long time on my previous verts.

I had my top replaced in December, still a cloth top, but the material looks different and acts different. I have not treated the new top with any products, but what I noticed is the water beads up and runs off the top. Water did not do that on the original top.

303 works great. Got the tip here a few months ago and very satisfied. Really beads up.

The procedure I've developed is to wash and dry the car, as normal, so the top is clean. Then I 'mask' off the non-top areas with towels and sheets, everywhere. Re-wet the top (if necessary) with a damp rag. Apply the 303 liberally, dab up the drips that will occur in the overhang areas, then let it dry overnight in the garage.

Great info,,, Should receive my package SOON I hope...
