Ancalagon The Black has been in winter sleep for 6 weeks as of this weekend. However, I did go over and wake him up for about 15 minutes this past Friday. I like to do this every 6 weeks, just to move the position of the tires and to get personally pumped up again.

I'm sure I'll get flamed but I don't believe that getting flat spots on your tires are as much of an issue nowadays. Don't take my word for it, ask me in the spring .

I can tell you that after setting all last winter I had no flat spots in the spring that I could notice. Again, I start it every 6 weeks and move it about a foot or so. It sets on an elevated wooden barn floor.

As for removing the battery for the winter, what is involved when putting it back in the spring? Is there a bunch of resetting to do? How do you get the trunk open with the battery not installaed?

I've been deployed three times. Leaving car once for 6 months twice for year. I leave as is. Come back put air in tires & go. Never had a problem

I actually ran a nylon rope tied to the emergency trunk release thru the back seat to the front seat so i didn't have to crawl back. BUT 1 BIG FYI is to be very careful once the battery is removed and the doors are shut with the windows full up that you don't try to slam the door shut. If everyone recalls the window goes down a 1/4 inch to clear the rigid door seal. With no battery the window could crack cause of jamming the door shut. Almost did it by accident but caught the door before I did!! BE CAREFUL!

I also placed moth balls on top of the tires and around the outside of the car NOT inside the car to detour critters.
