Arrow AIR BAG RECALL

I saw where there are some members who have talked about a recall on the air bags on the 2012, I haven't got a notice, is this for all 2012 camaros?

it's not a recall on the airbags. some electronic module needs reprogrammed or the airbag light could come on. the airbag will still work, but for people who live in states with safety inspections an airbag light is an automatic fail.

Got mine done this week. If there are any history codes in the air bag computer they have to replace the module. The dealer thought it would be overnight, but they were able to find one at a local dealer. Still had to keep it overnight cause they couldn't find the clicking noise I heard and my wife really heard. I drove it yesterday with one of the techs in the car and demonstrated the sound, they removed something that got caught in the trim ring.

OBTW - my dealer rocks. Cause they had to keep it overnight they gave me a loaner (Malibu) and said "just bring it back with the same amount of gas in it".

The day I bought mine I was about ready to leave when the sales rep came up to me and said they had to take my car to the shop real fast for a recall. It happened to be the airbag recall you speak of. My car is a 2012 2SS/RS.

I was just informed of it from a rep here on the boards that ran my vin for a different matter. It seems that the 2lt/rs model is affected. Program 12065 was the reference to give the dealership.

When I bought my 2012 1SS/RS the light was on when I did my test drive. It sounded like a pretty simple fix that dealer did. I'm pretty sure they didn't replace any equipment and it was something they reprogrammed.

I've got a 2012 1LS that I got on April 28th. I haven't been notified of anything (and even just took in the car about a week ago for it's one month checkup)... should I bring this to the attention of my dealer though? I haven't had a message pop up yet or anything.

Subject: 12065 – Airbag Warning Light — Reprogram Module

Models: 2012 Chevrolet Camaro

*****THIS PROGRAM IS IN EFFECT UNTIL APRIL 30, 2014.*****
Condition

On certain 2012 model year Chevrolet Camaro vehicles, software in the Sensing and Diagnostic Module (SDM) may cause the airbag warning light to illuminate. This condition does not affect the performance of the airbags, and the airbags will deploy as designed.
Correction

Dealers are to reprogram the SDM.
Vehicles Involved

All involved vehicles are identified by Vehicle Identification Number on the Investigate Vehicle History screen in GM Global Warranty Management system. Dealership service personnel should always check this site to confirm vehicle involvement prior to beginning any required inspections and/or repairs. It is important to routinely use this tool to verify eligibility because not all similar vehicles may be involved regardless of description or option content.
