Well I found out yesterday and can confirm that 17" race stars and spohn lower control arms on a 2015 ss do not work. Fit when jacked but when on the ground the head of the sway bar link bolts dig into the wheel and also the lower arm hits the wheel closer to the inner edge. I had to cut the lower sway bar end link bushing in half closest to the head of the bolt (sticks out below the control arm) and grind the bolt head 1/2 way off. Then, lots of grinding to the lower control arm. Many test fits/drives to stop contact. Inner rim surface got trashed when I first mounted and backed the car out of the garage. I think I have it solved now but sucks to screw up the wheels!

Almost had same issue with my 17" welds and stock lower control arm. It's only the newer designed 13-15 rear sway bar that mounts further out then the original 10-12 SS sway bar inside mounting location. I had to grind down the sway bar end link bottom bolt for some more clearance

So is there a 17 that will fit up front with some decent rubber. Would like to run 275's squared on a 17

Here's the drag setup. Mickey T 305/45-18 rear and 28x6R-18 front. Drives like normal on the streets. I'm at camarofest.

Will a 18x10.5 with 7.5 backspace work in rear?

I'm considering running these wheels and have found nothing on them

Iam looking at getting new tires . I have 18 x 7 welds in front . Would a 26x8.00r18lt work ? That is a 26.2 diameter ? Thinking 285/40/18 m/t ss in the rear 27 dia. Just wondering if I will have abs codes or anything running these ?

Hey everyone,

I'm new to this thread ... thanks for the great info John, it really helped my decision making process.

I am just about to fit these new Forgestar D5 17x10 Beadlocks on the rear and 18x8 on the front.

I'm going to fit M/T ET Street R 305/45R17's on the back (28.1" tall).

I would appreciate some feedback on the front tires.

Do I go for a 245/45R18 (which will be 27.6" tall)?
  • Nitto Invo (104W - 149mph / 1984 lbs rating)
  • Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2 (100Y - 186mph / 1764 lbs rating)
  • Pirelli P-Zero (100Y - 186mph / 1764 lbs rating)
Or a 235/50R18 (which will be 28.2" tall)?
  • Firestone Firehawk Indy 500 (100W - 168mph / 1764 lbs rating)
  • Nexen B-Fera SU1 (104W - 149mph / 1984 lbs rating)
  • Pirelli P-Zero PZ4 (100V - 149mph / 1764 lbs rating)

I have had Invo's on the car before and they were good, however I am really tempted to give the Firehawks a go ... they have the best reviews out of all of them and are incredibly well priced ($106 vs. $200 for the Nittos).

Thoughts / experiences appreciated.

Simon

I decided on 225-55-18 Cooper Evolution Tour.
27.76 and according to Cooper, only 26 pounds.
Might not be enough tire for you. I’m not Whippled😁
98H 130mph 1653 pounds.

I ended up going for the Firestone Firehawk Indy 500 in 235/50R18 ... they are perfect.

I am extremely happy with how the new wheel and tire combo turned out.

I need more traction. I currently have stock wheels on my 2011 SS TT, with Nitto 555 drag radials. No traction at the track. Spinning all over the place (a lot of that is probably my fault -- I have a manual and am still learning). Some questions:

1. If I want to drive my car on the street, at the drag strip, and possibly a road course, would an 18"x8.5" in the front be a good idea? I'm looking at the Race Star Recluse wheels https://racestarindustries.com/produ...er_size=18x8-5 and they have a 10.5" for the rear but I'm trying to figure out what size for the front (I have to pick b/w 5" or 8.5"). I still want to be able to corner well.

2. Thinking about getting MT ET Street R's 305/45/R18 for the rear.

3. What's a good tire for up front?

4. I'm having trouble finding ZL1 replicas in 18" that fit. Any idea on sources for that?

Thanks everyone.
