Polished Aluminum Hood?
Have been thinking about stripping the paint off my hood and sanding and buffing it to a high gloss shine. Has anyone done this on a gen 5 Camaro? There are a few forums on Miadas and other cars doing this.

That might not be such a good idea due to the bad glare like a mirror on these cars right in your eyes.

I agree with above, on a hot day, the glare would be intense.

You could kind of knock down the glare a little if you sprayed it with clear coat with a flattener in it, but not sure if it would be enough.

Couldn't you do it with a wrap?
This way if you don't like it... you actually didn't ruin a hood?

Could wrap it in chrome, but that will run close to $600 and I have all the tools for polishing.

Unfortunately you don't say what color your car is. Might look cool if it was stripped and then had a brushed finish and than had Flat black racing stipes to cut glare and mat clear coat . As others have said you don't want it polished ,to much glare .
Plus polished aluminum is a real pain in the ass to take care of if not clear coated . Just ask all the guys with polished aluminum rims on their motorcycles . Most strip the paint and polish them and then you need to polish them at least once every couple of weeks to keep them from corroding and keep them shiny .
