Just light surface oxidation, very common and it's no problem.
If you spray the wheel with a garden hose, the rotor turns a rusty orange immediately.
Wears right off as soon as you drive it and step on the brakes once.

Yes, I have the same issue. I always thought it was just because of my location being close to the ocean and salt being in the air. It honestly looks like crap and I dont see why this would happen on a brand new vehicle. You think there would be some outer coat protecting against this surface rust...

This is something since the beginning of the rotor. Not much can be done about it. Once the surface oxidizes it is what it is but as soon as you use your brakes its gone. No big deal, really.

It happened on mine. I bought some silver caliper paint, pulled the wheels and used one of those foam sanding blocks (300 grit) and roughed up the area. Taped off the rotor area, wiped it down with laquer thinner and sprayed. Took the opportunity to wax both sides of the wheels. Keeps them clean and they wash so easily.

I had $20.00 in the 'mod' and 2 hours of my time invested.

Yea, I've seen those look a little unsightly too! One guy here pulled his wheels off and painted them and it didn't look bad. I thought of doing the same thing. Hit them with some 3M pads or something to remove any loose surface rust and then hit it with some Rustoleum and I think you'd be in good shape and its all about the detail, the small things that can put you over the top when it comes to car shows in particular.

This is something I might just do! Makes a great opportunity to do so when I have to remove my wheels for powdercoating next week! BINGO!

This is normal and quite common. Once a season, I remove my wheels and give the rotor hubs a fresh coat of Rustoleum.
