L99/6L80E Issues

hey guys, having some problems with my transmission as of recent. The car is a 2015 2SS with an L99 and the 6l80E. The trans does not want to shift at anything above light throttle all the way through wide open. However, the only time it appears to be an issue, is the 2-3 shift. The car has a set of headers, a catback exhaust, a cold air intake, and a street tune from a local performance shop. I brought the car to the tuner first, and he could not find a problem with the tune, and even after resetting the trans to the stock tune, it was still having the same issue. Any, and I mean any, insight will help. I'm pulling my hair out trying to figure out what could be causing this. Just had the trans flushed as well by the dealer at 55k miles.

Was it an issue before the tranny flush?

How about when you shift in manual mode with the tap shift? Have you tried different traction control settings? May want to check fluid level also. I'm sure the techs at the dealer filled it properly but you never know.

I wonder if the tuner tried an adapt reset/relearn. Arizona28 has a good point concerning behavior in Tap Shift mode.

I would be checking fluid levels first off. Dealer service bays are not immune to mistakes.

Mine will slip between 2nd and 3rd on first start up. It will not do it after that until it cools all the way down again.

I lost a torque converter after a tune. Can’t say if it was related or not. But imo, it was. Never the less, shifts got all jacked up. Hung in gears, NEVER would go into 6th, early, high rpm downshifts, higher rpm upshifts, etc. Finally got the CEL. Had to replace the TC. Dealer job...

Are you saying it doesn't upshift on it's own in M, tap mode? If so, it is not supposed to till YOU do it.

morning peeps. Yes ,stage 2 cam . cold air intake .kooks headers ,Borla Exhaust .
tuned by CJ tunes .
Set in Manual mode . Ill tap shift up the gears . most often . Tap into 3 rd . on its own . will go to fourth, right away . sometimes 4th to fifth. no engine lights, more often at higher speeds, does not hit the limiter.

Again, as strange as a torque converter sounds for creating tap and auto shift issues, that’s what mine was. It took quite a while for the CEL to light. Right after a tune!

Very strange . I was thinking it was the switch itself . I would have thought The Tuner/ mech. Would have figured that out . Still at the shop , Im telling him to keep it until it up shifts on him . Like have a horse with three legs .
