Uh, 2014 GT500s were selling in the 70k range back in 2014 and 2015. Not sure if you know this but car as they get better tend to become more expensive. If this was not true than why was I able to purchase a 2001 SS for 26k brand new and today an SS will cost 40k? It’s the nature of the game. GT350R will be nothing compared to a GT500 and the GT350R is still being priced in the 70k range. I’m pretty confident the GT500 will be north 90k for the base MSRP.

If you go with the Viper, make sure you have it checked out at a reputable Dodge Dealer before you purchase it. I would also suggest that you start looking for the nearest dealer that has a qualified Viper Tech, as they are the only ones qualified to work on the car. Sometimes they are hard to find. The dealer I took my Viper to when I needed work done, or even just maintenance, had a Viper Tech come to the dealer once in the Spring and if we got lucky, he would come back once in the Fall. Generally, I did most of my own maintenance, but these cars were not that difficult to work on.

Some mis info in here....

First HC does not have SC bearing issues any more. It was the older years when there were “problems”.

2nd it’s not a “poor handling” car. The Widebody handles well. Is it a 1LE? No...but it’s no slouch either.

To my knowledge the only issue with the Redeye is the diff and possibly the driveshaft. But a new $500 brace is suppose to take care of it.

Car is f’n built to mod. Shortblock good to over 1000rwhp and so is the trans and axles.

Maybe for the idiot's who have to be the very first to own one. In 3-6 months after initial delivery there will be MSRP or very near. This is not the GT350 introduction or the Boss which had both been out of production for a very long time and slated for a very limited 1-2 year offering. The 500 hasn't been gone from production that long to command extended adm.

Both the cars you mentioned use the same motor. That could be the issue. The SC LT motors do have problems. The one I have heard about most is overheating.

I'm also not a fan of DI engines. They are great when new but tend to have issues down the road.

Maybe you should try a NA motor and do some mods too get the HP you are looking for.

Just a thought.

Good luck
Craig

I wasn't aware that the LT1s were having problems. I assumed that they were bulletproof. Not for anything, but even some of GMs best engines have had reports of isolated problems here and there. For the most part, the LS engines proved to be reliable and lethal.

I really can't give you advice on what to try next, as I viewed the GM engines to have had the best quality overall. I could only say (never thought I'd say this) to try the blue oval if you are looking for quality and longevity.

In addition, I've found that you have to be committed to the car of your choice if you want satisfaction and a long car life. If you are just looking for the most popular car or the 'it' car, then chances are one will be trading and buying cars often, and perhaps not finding the "right" car.

The only LT motors that were overheating were in the Corvette, and that was due to bad setup on cooling. Nothing in any of the Camaros is overheating, nor in the ZR1.
