Bluetooth+phone what am I doing wrong?

Or is it my phone?

I have a Moto Q9c from Alltel I purchased maybe 5 months ago, I have it paired to the car, that was no problem. But when I try to make a call it wants to use Onstar.
When I checked GM's bluetooth site, it doesn't list the Camaro, so I tried a few other cars and found the Moto Q is supposed to work with several providers, but it isn't listed under Alltel.
I also paired it with the bluetooth audio, and that works fine.

My area hasn't completely switched over to Verizon yet, so that isn't an option.

I really like the idea of hands free, especially with a manual

Have you tried pushing the call button on the steering wheel, when it prompts, you say bluetooth, it should respond with the name it gave to your cell is ready?

My Q works fine in my car. Are you pressing the phone button on the steering wheel?

That should do the trick. Say Bluetooth, after the "Ready" Prompt. If it says sorry, then your bluetooth phone profile wasn't set up properly and you should delete and re-pair.

A little more info, when I press the button on the steering wheel, I say bluetooth and all is fine up to that point, after that it seems no matter what I say, it acts like I'm saying help or good-bye. I've even changed the name of the phone thinking it was confusing the name. However, the 'voice' command is recognized, but it says my phone does not support voice commands.

Thats strange I dont know what to tell you. Mine I've been using with a bluetooth headset and speakerphone for over a year, and all I do in the Camaro is say "bluetooth" then "voice" and it accesses the phones voice commands. Maybe you have to turn on voice recognition on the phone? Ive never seen it, I dont know where....

I was thinking about that this morning, I've never used the voice recog on my phone before, that could be my problem. I'll give that a try.
