Test drove a 1LT in May, no SS to test drive. They asked me if I wanted to drive it. I was like hell yea! I ordered from them 2 days later. 2SS/RS. No one really had cars to test drive in May. You may be able to find some to test now... maybe, I think the car is still fairly HOT!

Hell, i took my truck in for service the other day and tried to test drive an SRT8 Challenger, just to reconfirm what a good choice i made in spending $10,000 less for the SS but they said no! I didn't mention that I had a Camaro! In their defence, it was in the showroom and I would not have made them get it out just for a joy ride but they didn't know I wasnt serious!

Get the SS 6M, trust me!
trust john797! REALLY!

If you think you can only afford a LT, Sell something, sell a kidney, pawn your children... something, eat ramen for a year, come on we all did it in college! If you think you don't need an SS because of fuel economy... screw it, if you don't use the fuel, someone else will... If you are afraid you cant afford the insurance on an SS... well then you probably can't afford the insurance on the LT either!

SS 6M or go home! (just kidding we love all camaros!)

Dealer had two SS on the lot when I arrived. A black and Red. I was offerred a drive of either. I drove and ultimately purchased the Victory Red.

i was able to test drive one at a dealership here. it was an SS/RS that someone ordered and had to back out of. they had it for sale with a $5000 mark up. i went in there with my father in his vette (who got his oil changed) and i had my fire dept. shirt on. maybe that's why? i don't know, but we talked to the salesman about the car and my ordering. that could be another reason why. he said the same things though. no test drives, don't want a bunch of miles on it, it will sell, but they made an exception for me. i was the first person to get to test drive one at that dealership (or so they told me).

I went to a dealership in N.J. and the owner had a 2SS/RS in the same color and everything that I want. The sales guy let me test drive the owners car and even let me open her up on the highway. WOW....! I already had the car on order but wanted to know if it was all that it's hyped up to be and.........WOW.......... I loved it. I can't wait for mine to arrive. there are dealers that will let you test drive, just that they are few in between. Good luck with your search. Oh, by the way, I had my MARINE's shirt on. So they knew I was a veteran. Maybe that had something to do with it.

Ours will be at the dealership a few days waiting for striping and getting detailed before it's shipped from the Florida dealership to us here in OK. I have given the guys at the dealership that no one is to drive it or get inside. So that could be a reason some dealers are so protective. I know they are also trying to keep the miles as close to 0 as possible. I rented a 2LT from Avis (didnt know they had SS's?) and that's when I fell in love with this car. I liked the looks of it before its really fun to drive and the interior on the 2LT and 2SS at least is a luxury car interior. I ended up paying around $220 including insurance b/c that's when it FIRST came out. Now Avis is telling me its down to about $130 here in OKC. We spent a lot in gas too visiting friends and family all over.

I too have been having problems finding dealerships who would let me test drive a car. I was 0 - 3 here in Houston and I ended up just driving a slightly used one. As expected though, I loved the car.

I actually went to 2 dealerships and they were the ones that offered for me to test drive it. The one I actually bought had only 50 miles on it, so to me that was not a big deal.

The dealer here kept a 2LT RS for about 4 months (not selling it, even when individuals offered to buy it for more than MSRP). The dealer would let most drive it (as long as a salesman was with them). One of our doctors flogged it pretty good (over 100) and immediately came back and ordered an SS2. As a matter of fact, this tactic helped them sell over 20 cars (in a town of less than 6,000 people) before I ordered mine....

They sold the car about a month ago to a 90+ year old gentleman who loved it. Not sure how many miles was on the car, but he did not care...

I do not think they were so willing to let the other cars they received be driven. I think they were thinking that since there were not any around, the cost they might lose in "demo-ing" the car would pay for itself several times over... From what I understand, it definitely did...

I know I have not driven one yet. I ordered mine and although I had the chance to drive a couple of them, I wanted to wait until mine came in. Hopefully that will be tomorrow or Saturday....

First dealer I went to basically said "no, we do not offer test drives." They had 1 SS and 1 LT. The guy basically said the cars will sell within the week and someone else will be taking them home soon so we want to preserve them for that buyer. He also said, people that want to buy this car don't care how it drives, they want it for what it is. I also told him I would order a 6 speed manual and the one I was looking at was auto and "it would be a different experience anyway."

Second dealer only had one in the showroom, said no and would not elaborate further.

Third dealer (who I will likely order from) did not have any to test.

Did you guys have problems getting a test drive? Or did you just order "sight-unseen?"

Come on down and let's go! I understand that you may not want to be tempted since yours is on the way but the offer is always open
I'm sure your rotten dealer will keep you posted with updates.

I got to test drive one of them back in May when I decided to buy one. I got to drive it a bit around the parking lot, and do some tight steering and such. The car they let me drive had 300 miles on it, and they eventually sold that car to another dealer.

They told me they can't keep them in stock, and in the last batch of allocations they ordered one for stock.

I was told my my Salesperson at Huffines Chevrolet in Plano, TX that he wouldn't purchase a car without a test drive and wouldn't expect anyone else too either. Thanks "Mac"
