Gouging
Here is part of the letter my dealer sent me ( I told them I will be interested in 6-9 months)......
"Camaro is a limited production vehicle this year. We are allocated only 18 through October and already have 14 of them as sold orders. It is actually a good thing that you are thinking along that time line, since all the orders we are taking for this first batch are selling for a minimum of $3500 over MSRP. Supply & Demand, you know. The good news is, by the time you are ready to order yours GM will be up to full production and prices will be more reasonable." At least he's honest. I, for one, will NOT be paying over MSRP for this vehicle. Its my mid-life crisis car and I can wait....... LOL! |

My dealer got awarded additional allocations from GM because they are one of the only in the state who are selling at MSRP so in the end they'll make more!! So GM can ask dealers to not sell over MSRP, but they can't stop dealers. The best thing is to just go buy from a dealer who is. And if you want the car bad enough and can't wait, then pay over.

SSOOCH, when did your dealer get awarded more allocation? It happened to my dealer back at the end of March, and I'm hoping that it will happen again.

Went to Lake Chevy in Lake Elsinore today to check out their one yellow 1lt auto. $5k dealer markup, with a sign in the window "NO TEST DRIVES". So, there's one more dealership to cross off my list!
Told me they will get a V8 in 2 weeks, they have 3 slots left, but all Camaros will be sold with a markup. No wonder the only customers there were in the service dept! How do these places stay in business with that attitude, especially with so many other local dealerships promising MSRP or less? In short, avoid Lake Chevy in Elsinore and Singh Chevy in Riverside, for all you so cal buyers. |

Went by Hall chevy here in Ches. Va. they just got a 2SS in Yellow sticker was 39k and some change, and salesman said you had to add another 10k to that, because this car is so in demand. This was a sold car and the buyer was there looking it over and deciding weither or not to take it or order a stick. This car was a auto. 10k OVER STIKER!!:(

Went to Lou Bachrodt Chevrolet and they wanted $39,896 for a 2LT V6 RS, not even a sun roof. Out of their minds and in this market... good luck!
The one I am after is a 2 SS Cyber Metallic Gray - RS Package - Ground Effects -Power Sunroof. MSRP $38,590 - Just to order it they wanted a 5k Vig and thats not even the ++. I will be all over it once they come back to their senses. |

Chevy One Dealership Price Gouging
I found out that this dealership in Las Vegas received three Camaros all V-8's. They posted a sign on these vehicles that they are charging an additional $10,000 above MSRP.
Good Stuff. |

This is the reason GM is in the predicament its in. Trying to get as much money from hype as possible. Don't get me wrong, I like the Camaro but it ain't no BMW. The reason I say that is that I went to a GM dealer today to see a 6 cylinder with NO options camaro and they were selling it for over $36,000.00!! And he said its considered USED! He said the 8 cylinder fully loaded would cost over $48,000.00!!! BMW territory and not nearly in the same boat! They had 2 corvettes on their lots going for $47,000.00. Are you telling me the camaro is worth more than the corvette!? Its ridiculous. Everyone needs to wait. Trust me, the only car GM is making these days is the camaro because they aren't selling anything else. I'm going to wait until I can get a better price than MSRP. I saw the car today and its nice, but to say the least, it aint that nice! Good things always come to those who wait.

Spent most of June shopping around Phoenix AZ dealers:
Van Chevrolet Scottsdale,* AZ* 85260 480 348 8311 "Brock" - said $1500 price increase on orders starting July 1st. But was willing to offer MSRP, July rolls around...no price increase? Chapman Chevrolet 1717 E Baseline Rd Tempe,* AZ* 85283 Ray Russo $5000 over MSRP Midway Chevrolet Phoenix, AZ 85023 602-866-0102 "Steve Tucker" - Never got a straight answer on actual price, although I did get 'limited production vehicle, over MSRP, let me check with my manager, no one is offering MSRP" speech. Midway Chevy Update: Black SS on cars.com for $53K??? Gold plated wheels? Date with Megan Fox included maybe? I ordered on 7/9/9/ at GM Supplier from: Autonation "John Scarminach" Power Chevrolet Supersition Springs 480-615-4576 scarminachj@autonation.com Tell them Patel w/2LT/RS/IBM sent you...

STEVE RAYMAN CHEVROLET 4200 JONESBORO ROAD UNION CITY, GA A Black 1LT, Grey cloth seats, Maunal, polished wheels with a white hockey stripe and a single, 2 foot wide, white stripe down the hood/trunk. $37,504 They also had 2 others one black and one yellow 2LTs BUT didn't have the price on them! "Ask your salesman".... As if we would be that stupid! I walked around the cars for about 15 minutes, writing down info... but no one came out to "discuss" the price gouging!
