The numbers for the Challenger may be quite different once they mate a 6 speed manual to that 6.1 Hemi. I don't think Chrysler has ever hooked up a 6 speed to that 6.1 liter Hemi in any production car before. It should be very interesting to see what the 0-60 and quarter mile numbers look like with an M6 tranny. For an automatic tranny car with a 4160 lbs curb weight, its damn quick.

That proxy comparison is golden. I think I might frame a copy.

desperate
My, my....how desperate are some people to get this car that they feel the need to do that much speculation. That being said, it is probably close to how things will actually shake out.
I love hardcore enthusiats....it is pure entertainment to watch people squirm, sweat, scream, and cry over every little detail and thought... |

The Challenger is too heavy, it should have shared a platform with another car...I do love the bak lights and rear exhaust, it looks great in the new Motor Trend, its just too heavy, plus it will have worse fuel economy than the Camaro. I'd buy the Challenger over a Mustang though, no doubt. I guess people that wanted a 2 door Charger will be happy with the Challenger.

Everybody knows how carefully FBodFather picks his words... did you notice he did not dispute the LS9... only the LS7...
Okay just wishful thinking but curious none the less. First post, nice site, looking forward to having the 2010 next to my 1969. Oh by the way... those are not the real headlights. |

I wouldn't mind if the new challenger beats the base model V8 Camaro for ~ $40,000. I wouldn't even mind if it was on par with the top dog Camaro. The only thing I want is for Chevy and Dodge to put Ford in their place. Oh, by the way, are those headlights going to be on the production Camaro?! .................................................. ....................... j/k

IS IT 2009 YET???
|
Im a little disappointed to hear the LS7 is out of the pic.
I would have to think the LS9 is a total pipe dream! But i love to dream With the LS9 Corvette I think the gap is wide enough for the corvette family not to get there panties in a bind! And let the Camaro lovers to have a 500+ HP "Mean Machine". Come on share the love!!!!! But my Daddy told me not to bet with your heart, So I'm betting on a Super Charged LS3 for an "ss" and or a HiPo LS3 for the Z28 model options. Or could there be another option I'm over looking?

This would be good enough for me. If the camaro responds well to mods like mustnags do, this would be ideal. it leaves the corvette in its own class (at least from the factory), and gives us room to grow!!!!!!
