Rambling thoughts
I was thinking about Chevy's delayed intro of the Z-28. Just wondering if maybe GMs belt tightening strategy is relying on R&D of aftermarket company's high performance suspension/chassis upgrades to complete the Z-28 package. At this point so many of the components are being outsourced anyways, I would consider this a very sound, intelligent and economical strategy.

the F-Body SS was effectively "outsourced" to SLP in New Jersey...
Most of the components which would logically end up on a Z28 as we may imagine it are in the mainstream already (Magnacharger blower, uprated sway bars and other suspension features, quick shifter, etc....) so could literally be a matter of getting a bunch of proven parts, validating that they meet GM standards for quality / reliability and safety, developing an engine tune that meets regulations and go from there... Lets face it this is what Hennessey, Callaway, SLP etc do in many cases too - and folks pay top dollar for these "certified" performance packages
