I think what many people miss is that this car is so smooth you don't feel it. It is not raw like a GT500. The power is so linear you don't feel it. Just push it and then look at the speed, you hit 120 and you go, wow I didn't realize I was going that fast. So, I don't think it is auto vs. manual so much as smoothness of the overall car itself.

People who love to drive cars, don't want a car that drives them. It isn't about whether you are a 10th quicker, its about driving the car, making it shift and do what you want, when you want. manual is closer to nature, oneness with the car. auto and you might as well be almost watching a video. I cant live with that, maybe when I am 80. everyone lives a different way, and to different depths.

guess its a driver opinion of what it means to control and drive the car as much as possible. It isn't called a manual for no reason. Its because with a manual you are driving the car and interacting with it on a more intimate level. Auto is short for let the car do half the driving for me. its not untrue, its a mechanical fact.

I sorta of get what your driving at OP. My GT500 felt a lot more scary and less controlled than my ZL1 so it had a sense of being more fun plus the fact that it was a manual. However, I'm over that and truly enjoy the very well balanced beast that the ZL1 is. I wouldn't change anything about how it performs for me.

Earning the Number 1 Qualifier spot in NHRA Super Rod this year and listed in National Dragster was pretty fun!

Manuals are fun, no doubt! But people act like the Auto ZL1 is a 80s slush box POS and they could not be more wrong... |

Listen man there is no mistaken that a manual is fun. But when you have driven manual after manual then comes along a beast of an auto in this ZL1 it's a breath of fresh air. I know you think that cause your shifting you are more intimate with the car and I would agree with this. However when you know how to incorporated the paddles into everyday driving without using them all the time it makes a manual such a thing of the past and you feel that control over the car just like a manual. Identical! So for me it's the best of both worlds. I have owned a manual ZL1... I have owned an auto ZL1... Both are great great cars. The auto is just better, simply said! Loved my Shelby, was a beast, an uncontrollable monster. Up there with one of my favorite cars owned. When I drove the ZL1 it did everything so much better, I was like Shelby who? Lol.. I will say the winning exhaust sound goes to the Shelby though. ZL1 sounds pretty dam good with headers but the Shelby was pure sex. Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk |

Have you received all your parts for the swap yet? Has anyone actually completed the swap on these cars? I inquired about this once before, from the padal shifters to the pedals and computer. I wish mine was Auto for the 1/4 mile. I don't want to sell and build another car, i just want to buy an auto tranny and supporting mods.

I guess it all boils down to what you ultimately want to do with your car. IMO, if it's pretty much staying stock or lightly modded, it would be more fun to have a manual. If you plan on auto crossing, again manual is probably your best bet. Now if you plan on making some serious power and running the quickest times at the track, you can't beat an auto. I've had enough clutch and tranny problems in my 4th gen to last a lifetime...but it's a blast when I can finally get a good pass together. But, it's just too much work for me trying to go 10s consistently in a street car, rowing gears, and then having to worry about breaking parts.

Not all the parts. Still missing the trans and diff. Was in the talks with a guy that was finding me one and swapping it out. Guess he's been busy lately. Comtemplating just selling the trans and the buyer gets the trans once my builder/tuner pulls it. I've already spoke to him about it. Just waiting on the parts. Sent from Wayne's Manor
