I live in NH.. no front plate on my car. My dealer likes me.. they didn't put it on..
I guess they got used to me pulling it off in their parking lot (I velcro'd just the plate on the front) to get the sticker.. after the mechanic pulled the car out of the shop, I pulled the plate off. You should have seen the look in his face.. He didn't know what to say.. It would have been worth a camera shot.. Priceless! |

I just got a $35 ticket last thursday for no front plate, I guess that's better then the $270 speeding ticket I could have gotten.

@ Tessa - same as 570hp; I told them I did not want the bracket on the front, especially seeing the rivets used to hold that bracket in place. They said their inspection guy is letting certain cars go - but only on the first inspection.
@ 570hp - Velcro eh? What is it stuck to? The bumper? That would have made great picture. @ 2010 - $35? Were you pulled over just for not having the plate? Or were you actually speeding? Where was it, might I ask? And of course, how did you get out of it?

I got a $155 ticket for no front plate.
Trooper tore it up a few days later when I put the bracket on. He told me his brother just picked up a black one 2 days earlier and knew the bracket came in the trunk. Zip tied through the grill, clear mask on front, still won't damage fascia if I take the bracket off later.

I still have my Massachusetts "green" number plate from 1984. With the green plate you only have one and it's attached on the rear. I made sure my dealer didn't install the front plate bracket when my car came in. I am legal with no front plate in Massachusetts as long as I keep that green plate. They were discontinued years ago, but as long as the plate is legable they can't take it away from me.

They actually started failing inspections and trying to phase out the green plates over a year ago for illegibility. They are trying to get rid of all of them, but as long as it's legible, at this point there's nothing they can do and you will pass inspection. There is no official mandate that you "have" to give up your green plate at this point. I'm sure it will come someday, but until then, I'll keep my one plate as mine is very legible even after 26 yrs.

I used 3 inch toggle bolts to attach my front plate to the lower grille. I think it looks alright and it's on there tight and can easily be taken off with a screw driver.
