SLP ZL575 Delimma

If SLP charges base price for a 2SS/RS which is roughly 38k, and upgrades the car with a 23 thousand dollar ZL575 package, since you have paid 38k for the base 2SS/RS shouldn't you be able to keep the OEM stock wheels, hood, spoiler, brakes, etc, etc, or do you think it's ok for SLP to keep these parts that you have purchased with the base car? It seems to me that SLP will make 23k on the package plus even more money off your stock parts that they will put in their inventory to sell to other people. I just wanted to know what you guys thought.

If they are a reputable company, it's probable they figured the value of resale into the parts they keep and have deducted this from the price of the upgrade. Have you asked them if there is a price increase if you keep the original parts. If they are ordering the car and doing the upgrades before you ever recieve it, then the car is technically theirs until you sign for it and you would be buying a moded car and paying for the mods. I haven't looked into a situation such as this, I am just looking at it from the outside...

Best of Luck, I'ld love to see the car when it's finished...

+2 they should give you an allowance for all the take off parts. $23,000.00 and you could do you own work. You could put all the money in what you want and not what SLP chooses.

SLP converted gen 4 Z-28's into SS's. I had a 2002. They sell off the take off parts to keep the price down. On my 2002 they changed the hood to ram air, the wheels went from 16's to 17's. The changed the sway bars and put in Billstien shocks and put on a new exhaust system. This raised the list price by $3,995.00 Not a bad deal. look at my avatar, that is the '02 SS next to my new 2010 SS.

Here's the response I got from SLP.

All take-off parts are retained by SLP following the package installation. Our price of the package and components reflect the take-off part value and therefore are not returned following production. We do have prices set-up for each piece in the case you wish to keep any factory parts.

So really SLP is charging more than 23k for the package. I think 23k is more than enough for the upgrade but if you add that plus the OEM parts they will keep, they will profit more than 23k. I wonder how much these parts would cost if you purchase them and install them yourself?

I bought take off wheels and tires from them in 2002 for my SS.
They still had the nubs on the tires.
A set of 4 with shipping was $940.
The dealer wanted approx. $289/rim and $250/tire.
That would be over $2000.
They did not make the value of what they sold for new.

Maybe someone can answer this question......If i buy a ZL454 and want to upgrade it to the 575 later, do you guys think thats possible or will SLP only make a one production run of each car? I know GMMG upgrades their cars, just wondering if SLP will do the same.

Dont waste your money. As I said before the best thing for the 5th Gen is to have SLP stay as far away from them as possible. You could build the same car for half the money and keep your stuff. Too bad SLP didnt fold from the recession, I know its a shit thing to say but they deserve it. Buy supercharger, your choice of rims and whatever else. Theres not one thing SLP makes that someone doesnt make a better made and better engineered part for less money. SLP=Scams, Liars and Pretentious. I dont care if SLP has anyone here and maybe they should read this. If I can influence anyone to go with any other company I have done a good thing. I wouldnt even throw an SLP keyfob on my keychain.

You have any proof for making these claims? We don't appreciate the bashing of any company unless it is 100% backed up with proof.

I didnt appreciate buying full LT1 Exhaust with horrible fitting headers, bad welds and a dented intermediate pipe. And then trying to get an exchange and basically being told I was S.O.L. After spending huge dollars on "The ultimate exhaust system etc" I told the CSR what an absolutely horrible experience it was and was basically given the attitude that you had so many customers I didnt seem to matter and that my lacklustre overpriced scrap pile of tubes and my patronage was expendable. I sold the system to a guy( Who I warned about the flaws but was sooo wrapped up in the SLP bandwagon), lost half what I paid for never fully having it installed (At a prof race shop that refused to go any further with it.) Lost money on that labour too. Then I bought Hooker 2231 Lts, and the rest custom built for half the price, it is all still on the car to this day. I am absolutely sure that after telling my story 10 years ago and now that I will deflect the same amount of money away from SLP that I had lost dealing with SLP. Not slandering its exactly what happened. You asked!.

I asked for proof. You are telling me your story, and as much as I feel for you, that is not proof. So as far as anyone else is concerned this is nothing more than slander. Provide proof and I would be more than willing to back you up. But we do not judge anyone on this forum based on past experiances.

On top of the $22,995 price there's an additional 9k plus if you want these things added to your ZL:

OPTIONAL CONTENT
Heritage-Style SS® Badging for Grille and Rear Tail Light Panel *GM Official Licensed Product – $100 SLP Front Grille Insert; provides landing pad for SS® badging (Required if SS® badging option selected) – $100 Rally-Style Dual Painted Stripes (Gloss Finish on hood, decklid & spoiler) – $995 Heritage-Style Painted Hockey Stick Side Stripes (Gloss Finish) Black Silver White Hugger Orange – $850 SLP Adjustable Sway Bar Package Brembo Sport Disc Brake Package Includes; Cross-Drilled Discs Front & Rear – $ 1295 Brembo GT Front Brake Package Includes; 6-Piston Front Calipers and Two-Piece 15″ Front Discs – $ 5,495 To order a ZL550/575, please contact SLP Performance parts.

Damn it will cost near 70k to get everything plus paying sales tax which will be 5k more. In the comercial add it tells all about these thing for just under 23k but they failed to mention the additional things you will have to pay for to make the car complete. Don't get me wrong but were up around the Z06 price, and will the ZL ever hold its value?
