If it bothers you that much you could let them do it and then change it back. It only takes about 10 minutes and 50 cents worth of roll pins to change it back.

After I informed my service manager I didn't want it done, he said he would take care of it to ensure I wasn't continuously 'bugged' about getting done. Don't know what he did, but I have never received any emails, mailings or phone calls.

If you have a few keys, let them change the old beat up one and keep the rest original.

It's from GM and is a recorded message. You can't talk back to it (and get a response). I just got my first call yesterday, after more than a dozen mailings on the subject.

I was watching an episode of Motorweek recently and when the Goss' Garage segment came on he was talking about key issues, one of them being the Gen 5 Camaro key recall. He went on to mention if you don't want the key recall done you could sign a waiver and opt out. I thought this is a great option for me as I also want to keep my original key. The next day I called three Chevrolet dealers in my area and none of them had heard of a waiver to opt out. I then called 1-800-chevrolet about the waiver. I explained what I saw on the Motorweek episode. Without going into detail of the conversation I was told there is no waiver out there to sign. Was Pat Goss wrong? Here is a link to that Motorweek episode: http://www.motorweek.org/features/go...age/key-issues

Why should we waste our own time?

GM is now using deception when calling me now ( key recall), shows up on called ID as AAA Auto. Automated message is about the key recall, very much an amateur play by GM. 10 post cards , at least 6 calls from dealer. I will not be participating in the recall, and I have no obligation to do so

800 numbers that call my cell phone gets blocked. Let's compare, are we getting the same one? 866-487-7512 is the latest today. Got several from 866-487-6614 after I blocked 866-487-6613!
