They were put on the car just before I bought it last summer. They are "W" rated tires which is one of the three "Z" ratings. Good for up to 168 mph per the ratings charts.

I drive to and from work and occasionally put the pedal to the metal for passing and what not but no more or less than on any other Z rated tire I've owned. (Mostly Coopers after I gave up on Goodyear several years ago.) This is not a driving issue IMO. This tire had issues from the factory. They have 16K miles on them and are warrantied for 48K.

Wow, Glad your ok.

I had a tire let go at one end but stayed attached
on my 85 Monte SS, beat the heck out of the
rear quarter panel right behind the tire.

A whole tire peeling away like that with such low miles, there had to have been a defect. I would be sending pics to Cooper tires and requesting compensation.

I did, with detailed pics and explanation, tires specs, DOT code and all that. Told them I had three more on the car that I will now be forced to remove over safety concerns. I asked them for recompense.

Luckily, no one got hurt or the car. It could've been much worse. I would seek full compensation in replacement of all 4 tires from Cooper.

What did you keep them inflated to? Also wondering if you used Armorall or other tire shine products...I’ve been told they amplify sidewalk cracking in the rubber.

FYI....I just replaced my Pirellis with Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+....only have a few hundred miles on them, but very please so far, and Tirerack has good prices on them right now

Huh, weird that they were high speed rated. I have a chunk in my side wall that is damaged. About the size of my pinky. It's Benn there from the curb gods for a year or more. I've gone 140 mph with no failure. I have Toyos.

Very lucky! I've never seen a tire do this. No low air pressure warning? Long time ago I bought Cooper tires and had sidewall and out of round issues with them. Tire distributor replaced them with a different brand and admitted they were having trouble with them. That was a very long time ago though. Cool you are ok, after loosing a tire and brakes without having a bad wreck I think I'd buy all new Goodyear Sports and not drive for a few weeks. I put the Goodyear Sports on years ago and they have not only held up well but the tread wear is ridiculously good. 70k on the fronts and 60k on the back.

Purchased my car with Cooper Zeon’s back in spring of ‘19. Don’t know what the mileage was at that time but, have since put on about 13k. Seem to to be wearing well. No complaints. I think more than a bad tire brand it is just plain and simple, a defective tire. You can have defective tires in any brand. But, I agree with changing them all out, in case there is an issue with an entire lot of produced tires. Good that you only had to clean your shorts. Could have been way worse.
