Vert hygiene - Dirty undercarriage

It's been nice out lately and I want to wash he undercarriage, I figure a trip to th touch less car wash with the undercarriage option. Any things to worry about regarding the rag top?

Any car washs to avoid?

Staggered wheel setup and the "rails" that guide your car through can be VERY rough on your rims. Personally, I wouldn't want to do it mostly for concerns of beating up the wheels, but also when you are blasting water at moderately high pressure, you'll prolly get some in the cabin (this is less of an issue for me, since mine occassionally gets a bit wet driving top down in the rain! ).

Put the car on jackstands and roll under it with a creeper?

Hafta say that I am fortunate to live in an area that doesn't need to put salts down on the road often, so cleaning undercarriage is less of an issue for me.

We have one of those "laser" touchless washes, where you drive in and park, the computer scans your car and there is no rail/track. I just was not sure of water pressure on the vert top.

That and the soaps and other chemicals they use may not agree with the fabric top.

I've used the touchless car wash for two years now, there are no rails and I've never had an issue with water pressure, the most I've had was a drip on the drivers side window. I love the undercarriage wash since I live on a dirt road.As far as the harsh chemicals, never had a problem the car shines like day one and the top looks as good as new, just don't put it down until it's dry. As far as the wheels I pressure wash them first.

I've used the full service car wash a hand-full of times. Touchless, and the ones not touchless. Rails, no rails. And I have NEVER had one minutes trouble.
The chemicals/soaps I'm sure are harsher than what you would use in your driveway, but it's a CAR.... it'll be ok..... promise......

I use the car wash with the neoprene brushes almost weekly and wax evert time I wash. Never an issue. I actually think the blow dry at the end is harder on the top than anything else. no marks on the rims, and no scratches. It is time to treat the top again with protectorant.

I'd avoid each and every one of them. Recommend hand washing using the two-bucket method, if it's warm enough outside. In a pinch I spray wash, being careful not to let the metal wand tip anywhere near the body.

I agree, but how do we get the undercarriage clean in the driveway?
