There are a few places down here..... but needless to say, there are a few of us who venture that high, just to say we did. You can rev 4th out till 140ish...... think about it...... With enough road, it's possible. I didnt say I did it in a mile.

Why shouldn't it hit at least 175? My last car was a Porsche Panamara 4 with a 6 cylin. 300 hp engine with a top speed of 180. Heck the base 911 hits 185, yes much lighter, but the Panamara is a 4 door coupe. So a 6.2 liter LS 1 or L99 should be able.

I'm sure it's capable of 180s. Some of our European counterparts ought to jump in with their thoughts on doing it legally!!!

Could have pushed her for more, but starts to get a little floaty at those speeds. I'm not sure about 160 in fourth bro...... I shifted into fifth and looked at the speedo and was in the low 140's..... I did shift before redline tho. I was very impressed with her gearing at that speed. I was wholly expecting her to bog or slow down, but I guess the difference between fourth and fifth is small enough that it kept my Roma high enough to just push me forward

I worked for a German company for nearly 9 years and have driven the Autobahn quite a lot. Through most of the country. South of Munich in a rented MB diesel I hit 155 and could have gone faster. I hit 145 in a Renault from Hamburg to Frankfort. That could have gone faster. Driving the SS it certainly feels capable.

Good highways are good highways, whether they're here or in Germany. If the traffic is light and the pavement is good then there's no reason why you can't exercise it, a bit.

I used to have a B7 A4 that was APR Stage 2. I'd almost routinely run it into the 140s. Top speed was 168.

Cool

Well Rte 80 is out, as is 287. Forget NY and LI! Then every 100 yards some sort of speed trap. So maybe parts of PA.
Then we have the deer, bears and bicycles.
Oh well!

LOL

Camaro has a lot of power but the frontal area/aero are not the greatest as the speeds go up. The faster you go, the frontal force continues to increase exponentially until the power of the car can no longer push it faster. This is why on paper the cars gearing should allow it to hit something like 280 mph at redline in sixth gear. We all know that is not possible. Would be neat for an engineer type to be able to show the amount frontal area and corresponding aero resistnance at these hgih speeds. Bottom line, at some point, your Camaro is trying to push freight train like loads just from the aero.

At the right time of day, you'd be shocked at what you can get away with on the PA Turnpike.

The best road "in our area" (although it really isn't) is I81 between Binghampton and Syracuse.
