G2 Painted Calipers

Painted the calipers last weekend. I used the G2 kit and honestly....meh. I'm happy with it, but the Duplicolor brush on was better. They just didn't have gloss black, only matte. G2 had gloss. It didn't quite level out completely, honestly you can't really tell unless you're looking for it. And same as everyone else says, the brush is crap. I picked up a few other brushes at Lowe's.

Overall it looks good though. G2 paint, new decals, 2 coats of high temp clear. Plus Powerstop z23 pads and some new GM SS center caps. Overall, looks good and stops great!

Nice job - looks good! My G2 caliper paint and the stick-on decals are still holding up well after 3.5 years and I didn't even clear coat. Yes the G2 does tend to make some runs but once the wheels are on - no one will ever notice.

The vinyl should hold up fine without clear, but I figured I'd give it a quick spray.

...as for the G2, I'm happy with the end result. That being said, the duplicolor I feel was a better product. Kit is almost the same, except no hardener to add in. I feel that the actual paint was better with the Duplicolor kit.

I did the G2 coating on a pair of C7 ZO6 Brembos for my Gen5 1LE. I brushed it, but if I had to do it again I would spray it. It doesn't flow as well as I thought. That being said, the G2 coating has excellent durability. I track my car with race pads (high heat) and the G2 handles the heat. Also, I did use ebay vinyl decals and did not clear over them and they still look new.

Yeah I don’t see any issues like you describe. It goes well with the wheels too. Nice looking job. You just keep making it look better and better.

Thanks! -I really appreciate it! ...I didn't wanna do red, though it would've looked good I'm sure. Had a few other colors kickin' around, even considered Dodge destroyer grey, but in the end, figured I'd keep it simple. The issues are really hard to see, but I felt I should at least mention them "for the record". Don't get me wrong, I'm really happy with it!

-Thanks again!

Did you take the calipers off to paint them or did you leave them as is and just remove the wheel?

Factory calipers don't have decals, they're painted on. Just paint right over it!
