Unhappy Oil Leak (2012 SS)

Had an oil change. Smelled a little burning oil every now and again. Got some portable ramps. Got up under car. See oil on oil filter and oil pan (see pics). Taking car into dealer tomorrow. Will see what the dealer says, but based on these pictures, any thoughts on possible source(s)?

There are many threads on these cars leaking. The three places are:
1) Oil Cooler
2) Oil Pan
3) Rear main seal

Prepare yourself for the car being at the dealer for a few days. If it's the pan and/or the main seal, it's a very involved repair.

Maybe they just made a mess changing ir, did not clean it, or did nit seat the filter well, double seal... I would not get worked up yet,

Just from the look of this mess, I would lean towards the pan leaking. This is exactly what mine looked like when the pan gasket started leaking. They had to drop the suspension down to get to the pan and the car was in the dealership for about a week.

For your reading enjoyment.

Please let us know what your dealership was able to do for you. They should be able to diagnose this issue that you are experiencing. If you have any other concerns or issues, please feel free to contact me via PM.

Looks like a sloppy, careless oil change job to me...not a leak.

They could have at least wipped off the bottom of the fliter as it looks like it was sitting in the drain pan, because the oil on it is black

Oil filter not tight enough? I've always done my own oil changes and I've noticed I have to tighten the filters on my Camaro a little more than what I've done on my past cars. I smelled oil one time and found out my filter wasn't on tight enough.

Yeah, I thought there was a good chance it could be laziness based on the pattern vs. a true leak. I didn't want to "mess" with it before taking it in to the dealer because (1) I wanted them to see what I saw and (2) if it turned out to be to be just a sloppy oil change (same dealership service department changed the oil) then "they" get to waste their time cleaning it up and hopefully prevent this type of poor service. Well, you were right, their diagnosis was "residual oil from oil change" which means sloppy work. I will keep an eye on it. I will aslo change my own oil from now on. I am happy with the other service my dealership has provided me. Hopefully this issue is resolved and is only a one time bad experience.
Thanks for everyones' input. If oil returns, I will update.
