How much to tip detailer/owner

Guy doing detailing owns the business. Do I tip? If yes, what %?

Typically "tips" are given to employees and not the owner of the business. But if you feel he has gone "above and beyond" in taking the time and effort, I would think a tip would be appropriate. How much? I don't know. I would tip based on the amount of extra "care" he did. 20% is typical but may not be enough considering how labor intensive detailing is. Just my thought.

Curious question...unless they did something above and beyond, I probably wouldn't tip. Did you tip the window tinting guy? The Rally stripe installer? The guy that changes your oil? That's the job... tip only if they did more than expected I guess...

Depends. If you keep going back to the same place on a regular basis, if you take care of them, they'll take care of you. On average 18% tip is warranted.

My .02... 20 dollar tip is sufficient. (unless its an 80-100.00 detail, then an extra 10 bux would be fine). 20% on some jobs I've done can be an 100+ tip, which is way too much imo. Toss in an extra 20 though, thats plenty

I detail cars for people, (not as a full time profession) but I wouldn't think of accepting a tip.

I enjoy doing it, and I get payed well enough. Having the person return and become "a repeat customer" is my "tip".
