anyone had a problem with 2013 HUD fading to nothing? - Camaro5 Chevy Camaro Forum / Camaro ZL1, SS and V6 Forums

Driving down the road today and all of a sudden no HUD???? Turned it off and back on and it was on for a few seconds then dimmed to nothing...tried again...same....tried yet again and it wouldn't come back up...hmmm
Left it parked and car off for several minutes, started it up and all seemed fine....didn't run it long though, had to get back to work.
Anybody experience anything like this? Possible glitch? 32K miles and don't remember this happening before. I do keep the dash logic plugged in, however it didn't seem that it played a part in this as I had it out and it happened too.

I had the backup camera screen go white. Shut car off and sat for awhile. Started back up and worked fine. I am guessing software reset. Yours might be same.

Sometimes your MyLink misses automatic updates and the dealer will need to do it for you. It's crazy how everything can be interrupted by MyLink...

most likely bad HUD control switch.

There is a history with failure. The bummer is they have to remove the dash to get to it.

Mine did this once when I drove it for a while and it was a hot day. Turned it off, and next time I drove it, it was fine. 17K miles and still under extended warranty. Seems to be fine, and it hasn't happened again. Even if it does, there's no way they're tearing my dash apart to fix it.

Thanks for the responses guys.....it has been working just fine since the original "incident". I will be keeping an eye on it though! lol

My 2013 did this EXACT same thing at about 25,000 miles. The dealer replaced the HUD(yes removed dash)...they had to wait to get a new HUD...so had my car 2 days total. Glad it was still warranted. New HUD costs about $1800. love mine but thats pricey!!!! Just noticed this is ZL1 forum...but yes my little 2LT/RS had the problem.

Mine has done it periodically on my 13, but the dealer cant replicate it, and lately I havent either. Probably happened a DOZEN times. It seems if i toy with moving it up and down, and or adjusting the brightness it does eventually come back. Wish there was a TSB or some documented cases that can help me diagnose and repair. HOPEFULLY it doesnt need a new HUD, but if so, I'm going color!

My 13 1LE has done it several time since I got it, the exact same thing. Dealer also cannot reproduce it. It seems to happen every six month to a year. Now I am out of warranty and I don't know what I would do if it happened again.

Mine did this once, a year or so ago. Starting working again after turning car off and waiting a few minutes. Been fine since.

I used to have a 2013 2LT/RS and had the same problem periodically. Have not had the problem with my 2014.
