We will see cross my fingers. All you guys are awesome. Thanks for the tips and advice
Man, you're living everyone's nightmare, hope your buddy will be able to help you. I was going to suggest a stripped screw extractor as a less intrusive method, but it probably wouldn't suffice if the factory lathered it in red loctite. Why they have to use a torx bolt for the steering wheel instead of a normal hex one is beyond me btw.
Keep us posted

One trick I learned about loctite is to heat the torx bit with a torch before trying to loosen the bolt. Once you attach the torx bit to the bolt allow it to sit there for a minute or so and allow the heat to work.

I’m really good at stripping bolt heads and also breaking them, my dad is good at extracting them...we are a team lol

Hope your buddy gets it man, i can’t imagine how freaked out I’d been on that one

Mine was a pain also, ended up stripping the bolt head before I was able to get it loose. Had to wait a few days for a new bolt before I could complete the install.
Having said that, IMO the CF steering wheel is so much nicer, especially with the shifter and dash to along with it. I would do it again.

So how did you get the bolt out after stripping it?

This entire thread was about how to remove a stripped fastener, do tell. To anyone attempting this do not use Harbor Freight or other crappy sockets, GM put that fastener in with nuclear locktite and it will fight you the the very last thread.

Well not the entire thread is about removing a stripped fastener I'm also concerned and hope that it wasn't cross threaded either. Then i would need to replace the steering column and that is a huge job. Really dont want to pay the labor rate to replace the upper steering column.

It will be worth it in the end.

Thanks. Like i said i just hope the bolt wasn't cross threaded to begin with because that will be a very expensive carbon upgrade if i have to replace the steering column just because of a $3 bolt.

Haha i hear you but its beyond just a simple swap out now. Besides, i typically like to work on my own car and this was supposed to be a very simple swap. All the videos i watched said the hardest part was getting the air bag out and detaching 3 wire clips. after that just a simple T50 bolt and out comes the steering wheel.

But ill be taking the car to my buddy's house tomorrow to get it worked on. Hopefully its not cross threaded. I'll update tomorrow. Thanks guys!

If it’s cross threaded you might be able to just retap the threads.
