You've pretty much answered your own question here. You said you race for fun. You are not a serious drag racer. You asked about an auto in the COPO. The COPO is a drag car, not street legal. People don't spend 80,000+ to buy a drag car just to have fun. They are serious and out for money. If you're trying to have fun= buy a manual and knock yourself out. If you're trying to win race=buy an auto and kick those manual guys ass. Trust me, when you get to that level there is still plenty of driving going on.
