I have a 2010 SS/M6 w/ 12K miles and I don't get what you guys are talking about. Are you talking about a grinding sound when you push the clutch in and move from 1st to 2nd you get a grinding sound? Or are you talking about once you get into 2nd gear and you let the clutch out you are getting a grinding sound? I don't recall ever hearing this grinding sound accept if I happen to let the clutch out b4 I actually get into 2nd gear but that's my fault.
Could someone please explain what you are talking about more specifically. Russ |

My shift to second isn't smooth, and there is resistance of some kind, but I wouldn't call it a grind.

Notchiness, almost like a non-fluid movement between gears, assuming that most manual cars are like this (probably not though). High RPM grind into 2nd, rarely any other gear, but it had happened before. A complete and total lockout of 1st/2nd gear twice in my ownership of my 11' 1LT (1 year) after a grind into 2nd occured. While I realize not everyone was having these problems, these are the issues I had. There was a thread mentioning the AY6 2nd gear grind somewhere on these forums as well.

I don't have a grind to 2nd, but it can be difficult going from 1st - 2nd and 2nd - 3rd when the transmission is cold.
Once it warms up, it works great! |

The grind is the actual change from 1st to 2nd, nothing to do with clutch, not a resistance but a very loud grinding sound, can't mistake it with anything else. Normally has happened to me when engine is relatively cold, low rpm gear change. Has happens once with a warm engine/ hours of driving. Normally with a "quick"/ natural gear change speed. I have over came this by doing a slow shift but then need to step on the gas a bit with clutch down to keep a smooth gear change with out the car jerking. Will be taking it to the dealer as I should not have to compensate for this gear grind. It's embarrassing when you have passenger and they hear that from a mint looking car. Makes it seen like you don't know how to drive.
