R6P>Dealer Stock.. Er, no.
Why? Backlog and bad PR. You think the whining here is bad, just imagine of joe blow with his Bimmer decides "Hurr I wnt CAMERO!" then get's pissy and starts a chain reaction that starts more bad PR to the tune of... "Manufacturer slowdown is the BOD fault.. DOWN WITH GM!" Again.. Yeah, not such a good idea. With the talking heads and pundits the way they are, and just how hot this car is.. |

I am just surprised that the value in supplying other folks instead of R6P buyers seems to be more important. They lost a lot of marketing opportunity here. They could have publicly stated that they had 14,000 committed Chevrolet customers and those loyal customers were going to be supplied first.
Now outsiders will look at this and say "Is that how Chevrolet treats their most loyal customers? - I wonder how they would treat me as a new customer? That's poor business - I'm keeping my Toyota." Sounds like Emjay may be correct - it's a gauranteed sale so whey supply them when we can get one more sale by building the car for a dealer.

Okay folks - please follow my lead and post here in the following blog. Keep it civil - Cheryl is a sweetheart and it's not her decision. Posting there will give our issue visibility in the corporate ranks:

I just submitted my comments. Here is what I wrote:
Hello, A very high thank you for all the hard work you and your team have done on the new Camaro. However, would you pass along to your superiors about the current problems that have a lot of us concerned. This concern will absolutely lessen our future brand loyalty for years, if it is not addressed by GM. My wife, son, and I went from Oklahoma to Indy to see the new Camaro. We previously had gone from Tulsa to Little Rock for the Hot Rod Power Tour to see the concept Camaro convertible. We were one of the first ones to order one on Oct. 13th, 2008. We believed that the earlier you ordered the earlier you would be able to receive your new Camaro. We put down a non-refundable $2,500 deposit. We sold in late October her 2002 Monte Carlo SS to help us afford a down payment for this new Camaro. Now we learn that all our prework was stupid because preordering was not necessary that all this preordering was a marketing plan by GM. If GM really cares about its customers, then new Camaros should be built by their initial order date. Also, please be more upfront about information on our order. We should not have to constantly attempt to get information from our dealer about the status of our order. Either the dealer does not know or cannot find the requested info. Thanks again for all the hard work on this exciting, new Camaro. |

Still no car. *Compiled Complaint thread*
Hey all -
Just wondering: What is the point of pre-ordering your Camaro's? I just found out that cars are arriving at dealers and appearing in showroom (no pics yet sorry). If dealers are getting cars for sale before orders are being fullfilled, what was the point of ordering? I put 50% down on my car because I wanted to be one of the first. It looks like I could have collected interest AND be in my car by now... sigh |

I know it is tough due to all the waiting. Hang in there. Take pleasure in knowing the dealer cars will have a hefty markup in most instances. Pre-ordering will be the benefit for a less expensive toy.
I talked to one dealer Lustine chevy in Woodbridge Va. They said they would have a 2ss on the lot next week for sale. They did not do pre orders. The sale price is 46500. 10k over what I paid for my same pre-order. I'm ok with waiting.
