oil pan leaks

What methods have those of you used to fix the oil pan leak problem with the 6.2 engines? A buddy of mine took his to dealership and got it back still leaking and this happened to me as well.

To do it right you need to replace the seal, and that is really hard with the engine in the car

Mine leaks to, i'm just to lazy to take it to the ler. I'm surprised that the dealer didn't fix it right, maybey there's an underlying issue.

Yeah I'm real disappointed in my dealership. My neighbor suggested just applying a bead of silicon gasket goo on the outside area where it is leaking from. Anybody think this might work?

Please don't do that. I've taken apart a few older engines that someone did that too to try to stop leaks of some sort...the engines still leaked, and it just made it a nightmare to work on the engines and get them cleaned up.

You don't need to pull the engine to replace the oil pan gasket.

It's NOT an easy job, but it can be done with the engine in the car.

The brace is right below the pan, so you cannot remove the pan more than 2 inches. And nothing is a striaght shot. A five min job with engine out. Turns into a 2 hour job. But it would take easy 2 hours to get the engine out, so it is better to fight it. Make sure the seal is in striaght, really easy to get wrong since you cant see anything

I lifted the engine with a cherry picker and lowered the k-member a bit. I still couldn't get the oil pan off, but it was down far enough to slide the gasket around the oil pick up. The Whipple made it where I couldn't lift the engine as much as those with a stock intake. If you still have a warranty, I would let the dealer do it. If you do it yourself, don't forget to apply rtv at the corners where it meets the front and rear covers.

Dropped mine off on Monday for "oil leak", got a call the same day saying it was the oil cooler that was leaking. They replaced it. Have not picked it up yet, so i can't verify if there is no more leak.

Took my dealer less than 4 hours to replace my oil pan gasket. No more leaks!
