I'm guessing that the bigger problem will be supplier issues due Chrysler bankruptcy and GM shutting down for 9 weeks this summer (in addition to if GM files for bankruptcy). These activities could cause suppliers to shutdown. Even if GM wants to keep building the Camaro if the suppliers are collapsing due to these issues then there maybe serious constraints on getting the Camaro's built over the summer.

I'm not saying for sure this will happen but I think it might be the biggest challenge in the near future for business as usual on the Camaro line.

AMEN -- GM thinks "us folks that ordered a Camaro early are SOLD orders (these customers really wanted one because they ordered First) SO they will wait" till we build some for the showrooms which i think is lame.

There was earlier talk of even dropping the GMC line. That would not make me happy either. If we look forward and take the Chapter 11 for what it is, it is a protection from creditors and a reorganization. This plan has to be approved by a bankruptcy judge.

Looking at Chrysler, most of thier negotiations were completed before the filing I believe. In essence, the largest creditors have the biggest say. GM has already started in this direction by announcing the demise of Pontiac and the options for doing the same to Saturn and Hummer if they are unable to find a buyer. I am not sure how much Sabb they own, but they are looking to de done with it as well.

While any path that is taken is unsure, one has to hope that yes, GM will emerge from bankruptcy a much more viable company. Even a delay in paying some debt will provide them with additional short term capital. With luck they continue to make the Camaro as we all expect it to generate revenue for GM. Chrysler has mentioned that their bankruptcy will be short lived, especially as Fiat picks up 35% of Chrysler. I expect GM's to be a bit longer, but also come out stronger in the end. I too believe bankruptcy is imminent, but also feel it is necessary unless the economy miraculously recovers over night.

Have you checked to make sure GM will let you use your $3500 on the camaro. They usually set a limit on certain vehicles.

Hummer I have heard will be sold off saturn too may survive in some other capacity
the upsetting part to me: why did we dump all that tax payer money into them to only go into bankruptcy anyway,,they sold the bailouts to the american peaople as a way to prevent bankruptcy, the bailouts werent that long ago, it would seem to me that we could have saved a lot of tax payer money just going to chapter 11 in the first place

Because that would have been the smart thing to do.
