to think your actually getting some kind of better runing condition by pulling your engine cover is insane, why not unbolt the hood too!

We removed ours. It's a horsepower killer. A credible shop that my husband knows dyno'd a Camaro with and without the engine cover. The car gained 4-6 hp with it off under running conditions. If you are running the engine under constant throttle on the highway, the cover holds the heat in the intake manifold. Without the engine cover, you get air flow over the manifold which dissipates the heat. The hotter the manifold the lower the hp because it decreases charge density. So the cooler the manifold the higher the charge density. Let me put it this way, what is the purpose of putting a cold air intake on a car? To get cold air into intake manifold to increase hp, right? So why would you put a blanket (engine cover) on the intake manifold which ends up keeping it hot?

There's a second cover over the intake. Its a little more work to remove. If I remember correctly there's a few bolts holding it down. You also need to loosen the bolts holding down the fuel rails. Then you lift the fuel rails up so you can pull up and slide out the intake cover. I had someone remove my intake cover for me. It took him about 5 minutes to remove the intake cover. But the engine cover can be removed in less than 30 seconds. |

You know your right. I mean why would you want to keep your intake manifold as cool as possible. Hell why buy a CAI. I want to be the first kid on the block to buy a HAI. I will design one that picks up the hot air from under the engine cover. |

My engine cover has a little rubber knob on the other side of the oil cap that won't let the engine cover fall off its also connected to the side of the engine ... anyone know how to remove this?

all i can say is wow, some of the people here are why i make so much money, you can dyno a car 5 times and get 5 different numbers, and removing the cover will not give you more hp,

How U Doin?

Removed mine tonight. The cover had a cheap look to it IMO. I mainly did it because I never cared for the look of it. Regardless of whether or not it will improve performance, it can't hurt to let that built up heat out.
